π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯ Reposted from @hiphopromantic @kgrsfilms appreciation post: In the 80s Kool G Rap met @officialdjpolo through @therealdjericb and they became a highly respected duo shortly after. Their work left @djmarleymarl so impressed that he made them members of the legendary Juice Crew. Between '89 and '92 they released three classic albums in total before G Rap started to focus on his solo career. Three years later in 1995 he dropped his solo debut 4, 5, 6 with the smash hit "Fast Life" featuring Nas on it. Nas is only one of very many legendary MCs that were highly influenced by G Rap and followed his style of multi-syllable and storytelling heavy lyrics. After releasing some other great albums such as Root of Evil and The Giancana Story in the 90s and early 2000s he also managed to bounce back in the 2010s. Especially his collab album Son of G Rap with 38 Spesh stood out for me in the past decade. Kool G Rap is one of the few golden era MCs who managed to drop music in these times without sounding outdated. I can definitely sum up that heβs in my Top 5 Dead or Alive list and undoubtedly deserves to be mentioned with the all-time greats.
