Is it an adhd thing that whenever I am working on something and I can see the finish line (eg only 100 more words to go, or only 15 more minutes) I get the urge to stop and do something different? Instead of completing the work and doing the different thing afterwards I want to stop right away whenever I become aware that it won't take that long anymore.

I don’t know if it’s an ADHD thing specifically, but it definitely makes sense to me that this would happen.
We have a lot of trouble with reward regulation. When we get close to the finish line, it feels more urgent that we just need to finish and be done and get our reward. It would be better to get it all done right then, but we want the reward NOW. Waiting is not easy.
