My husband and I are at the beginnings of a GoT re-watch and this time around I'm really thinking about who would be best in what roles, and I really think Renly would have been the best king option after Robert's death. He's level headed, he's realistic, he's not fueled by the need to kill.
Anyway, you've been popping into my head periodically when he comes on screen and I had to tell you. Glad you're doing well and I hope your birthday was absolutely amazing! 💖💖💖💖

The thing with the Baratheon brothers is, they were complete when they were working together, but separated from one another and their flaws were too massive to breach. Robert was a powerful leader who had been able to rally together an entire army to go after the woman he thought should be his; Renly was a statesman who could please and flatter to get people to do what he wanted; and Stannis was practical and sensible, to an almost unwavering degree.
If they'd just worked together then they'd have been perhaps too powerful to topple. But broken from one another and they were doomed to fail. But, if they were able to actually communicate and work together, then they wouldn't be any fun now, would they?
I fortified myself for today's ao3 downtime by downloading The Best of Fools and man did you and @paracosm-draw really succeed in keeping me sane with your incredible colab!

Your kitties are always so cute, I wanted to share mine with you! Theo is my orange boy sleeping in the box and Arya is my little secret calico (she has white but only on her chin, tummy, and paws) loafing on the arm of the couch.
I want you to know I would die for both Theo and Arya. They're so stinking cute!!!! 😻
