School is a break from caregiving for parents, school is a new environment, school is free care until 22, school is education tailored to their limits, school is OT and resource and things parents cannot do.

I mean… I’m thinking of something as small as a field trip to the zoo. The full cost and logistics are not the parents’ responsibility.

I’m also thinking of my classmates who had pull out resource sessions in elementary school that had them at grade level by middle school. A parent cannot do that - balance what their kid can handle with what they need help with. You need multiple professionals!

For the Bear to feel fulfilling:

It doesn't have to this SEASON but I feel like THIS would establish a good vibe, it would clear the air about Syd's importance and character and reinforce her role.

I don't think as a viewer I can move on from that, mostly because our perception of Syd would be that jeapordaze has a darkskin black woman.

Meaning:

BEHAVIOR:

- It will establish a bias that anyone in the crew can yell at her.

I feel like Marcus wouldn't have felt comfortable if his white man boss or Richie hadn't yelled at her. I said what I said.

ABUSE:

- it will establish as a viewer that that type of behaviour is ok ( done to black girl/woman,knowing Syd in the fandom is already hated, yikes) and that Carmen as a character is full of it because he hated being yelled at and the abuse in the culinary industry.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

- It will establish that accountability wasn't a theme which would be weird about a show that dabbles mental health, grief, growth, passion and food. All themes that one extreme or another would lack result without accountability.

And like again with the disclaimer that I haven't read a lot of books written in the last 10 years and of course i can't speak for all recent books BUT I feel like i've noticed that a lot of characters in modern fantasy and romance have no goddamn empathy for other characters within their respective plots.

re: plagiarism in general, one thing that super bothers me is the inability for people to grow & learn from the experience.

with the exception of last weekend, which in retrospect i think i also should have handled privately, i have previously addressed instances of plagiarism in private in hopes that the person will realize they've hurt someone but will have the opportunity to do better without any public fallout because as we know all too well, it can get unnecessarily heated on here.

but honestly i've yet to see anyone do so. people get super mean back, or block and vague about it instead, insisting they were just playing with similar themes, when in every instance that i choose to broach this with someone i can prove passage-by-passage or word-for-word copying. because i think you can play with similar ideas for sure, but when it gets more specific than that, like down to the line-level, there's a problem.

idk. i probably shouldn't ruminate on this too much, but this is like the number one most discouraging thing for me at the moment. i just wonder what is satisfying about telling a story that they know at its core is not theirs in the first place. and i wonder why when approached about it, people choose to buckle down and get mean when they're the ones who hurt someone in the first place.
