Firemaking
With Fishing ticked off, it was time to move onto Firemaking. With the failure of Tempoross to deliver a pet, the next hope lay with Wintertodt.
I kicked off some Todt at the mass world, vibing out and enjoying the experience rates. Tempoross is not a slow experience activity, but paired up against Wintertodt it looks weak as fuck. I made it through the first few Firemaking levels with little effort or expense of resources.
However, as I was trucking along, the various UIM in the friends chat I use suggested to just go for Solo, if I actually wanted the pet. I had been previously ignoring Solo because all of the guides mention that you either want to be 10 HP, or 99 HP with a Hitpoints cape. However, it turns out that those sort of recommendations are either only really relevant for IronMen who have resource limitations, or just about trying to minimise action interruptions.
And that implies that I am in anyway playing tick-efficient. Which I never do. So, with the knowledge that Solo Todt is fine and easy, I picked up some Sara Brews, and prepared to learn the definitive answer to 'y fletch?'
Which pretty much concludes the story of Firemaking. I solo'd for a few more days, get hit by repeated internet disconnections right at the end of my Todt round undoing 40 minutes of progress each time.
The pace at which I went from 83 to 99, twelve days according to RuneLite, was also very good to set me up for disappointment and annoyance when I moved on. Devoid of a Phoenix, I was left with only the dopamine from future 'number go up' to drive me on as I went Woodcutting.
And woodcutting, I gotta tell you, does not have number go up fast enough.
