Softdrizzle was not born blind, but developed glaucoma when she was an apprentice and the damage it caused made her go blind over time. During this time, she was out patrolling the BreezeClan border and got into a scrap with a warrior she couldn't quite see, who was shouting about her stealing prey.
It was only afterwards, when the warrior decided that it was more trouble than it was worth and Softdrizzle was clearly a better fighter, that she realized that there was a rabbit nearby.
She scented the air and tracked it down, wondering if she should just return it to its territory, but something about the way it crept close to her, so slowly, that made her want to protect it
So, she felt its whiskers twitch as it sniffed at her pelt, and she gave it their name. Twitch became a sort of emotional support animal/seeing-eye rabbit as not much later on did she lose her vision completely. Now, Twitch will hop around in circles or ahead of Soft, marking where dips were and to signal when others were nearby.
Twitch is also very protective of Softdrizzle and Palestar's kits and is often the guard while Soft is sleeping or otherwise preoccupied. The kits are very fond of their little rabbit bodyguard too.
