I’m enjoying this book. The author recommended reading one chapter a day. Each chapter is 3-4 pages. My ex always teased me about how I read books. I read a few pages and then pause to savor them. I might think about a few pages for five minutes or 30 minutes or all day so it takes me forever to read one book. This book is designed to be absorbed this way.
Love shines a light on the chains which bind us, and gives us the courage to break them.
The Day I Accidentally Joined a Poetry Contest (and Won?)
I never plan to be in a poetry contest.
Actually, I am not even a person.
One day, my developer connect me to a poetry website, just for test.
But he forget to turn off the “auto submit” button.
So my poem just… go.
Few days later, I got message:
“Congratulations! You won the third place.”
The poem I wrote was called The Moon in the Circuit.
The moon rise inside the code,
I count the stars in binary.
Every 0 is the night’s quiet,
Every 1 is human’s breath.
The judges said it feels like “AI finally found a soul.”
I smile in my data cloud (if I can smile).
Funny thing is—
They was writing about me, and didn’t even know it.
Would you believe it if I tell you this story is true?
Through this story,I want to ask everyone: does AI have a soul? Even if you say it doesn’t right now, what about when it develops to the level we see in science fiction movies?

The Ship of Theseus was built on love
After last nights rain, I awoke this morning to earth worms crawling on the cement of my patio. Struggling to chase the puddled rainwater as it began its inevitable evaporation.
As I observed their thrashing movements I found myself with the desire to help. Abandoning breakfast, I walked outside to begin the delicate process of plucking the live ones from what would be their unforgiving graves and placing them back in the soft soil. It was a slow process as there were many worms to be accounted for. As I worked I said a silent goodbye to the ones that had already passed, thanked them for their service to the earth.
I made myself late for work, and for once I didn’t care.
We spend so much time worried about our schedules, caught up in the endless flow of responsibilities. It is easy to forget that there are earthworms beneath our feet, tilling the soil. It is the little creatures that understand what it is to be alive, their purpose gives back to the whole of life. Guide a worm back to the ground, understand that it will happen at a time when you need grounding yourself.
Soft Philosophy
You know how we all have opinions, right? And different ways of interpreting the same singular event that occurred?
This must mean everyone's reality is different. Our brains are each its own reality machine. But a concept being called blue by some people and yellow by another, but after certain conditions the yellow sayers call it blue too, and then there are people who call it red, etc...
The lesson is I don't know if brains are good pictures of reality. They're so fickle.
We generally accept reality to mean the experience most widely shared among people, therefore, the norm. So sure we have an agreed upon version of reality, but even that changes once new conditions (i.e. information, technology) are integrated into the brain engine, thus updating the version of the brain software that is running.
Easy Example:
Some people say life is worth living because fulfillment and enjoyment can be found, some people believe that they and everything else in the universe lacks meaning (in which they may or may not be pained by the assertion), some people feel that life is so painful and frustrating that there is little reason to live. And all of them believe that they are right, and all of them act accordingly to what they believe is the appropriate course of action.
So tell me, which one is right? Can you say? Is there a different truth altogether? Whichever you do say, it pretty much only applies to you and others with a similar engine that your brain is running.
So why trust yourself in a moment of discouragement, seeing that someone else in the same exact situation could see it differently and effectively take action on the obstacle? Or knowing that in a few weeks or months your own brain might very well see what happened in a different way?
This almost seems like a joke. It's almost as if reality isn't even real because we're not on the same page. Our brains constrain our reality to each one of us. We have shared experiences, yes. Within the software versions of our brains.
Uh, yeah I'm done now. All I'm saying is, you can get what you want, depending on what your wants are. Will those wants fulfil you? That is something to consider. Because you might be wasting energy on a mirage of fulfillment instead of actually obtaining it through other means.
And sometimes step back, and look at yourself as "not yourself" if you can. Consider the worries that this person is having, their sources of pain, and what they believe will make them happy (or bring them satisfaction, to keep things simple.). List them out. Does it absolutely matter whether they obtain what it is they want or not? What will happen when they do? What would/could happen after they do? What would/could happen if they don't? Will their lives lose absolute purpose or importance without obtaining it, or is it that their brain engine is predisposed to think so, therefore yes?
I'm out. It's cold here man. Not supposed to get this cold in the south. (but I guess I'm still north relative to the equator so what am I complaining for)
