There’s a beautiful intimacy between lovers that isn’t sexual. Like hands touching softly, running your fingertips across their veins, tracing words of art into their back which brings shivers to the spine, laughing at one another for the silly things we say, or those soft kisses lovers give one another when things go right. This is an intimacy I crave to have one day.

Gifts are great. I love giving and receiving them. I believe it’s a way to show people that you know them. You know what they like. Even the littlest things can make the greatest gifts. I’ll never forget when my friends gifted me gloves in team effort because they knew my hands are always cold. They’re beautiful gloves and I wear them every day in winter. I love looking at them because it reminds me that they do care about me enough to remember that small detail of me. That’s why gifts can sometimes hurt as well. Especially from parents, and you don’t want to seem ungrateful, it’s just that they see you differently than you do, or your friends do. It hurts knowing that your parents seem to not know you that well, despite making a wishlist, to truly get you something they know you’d appreciate. They’re supposed to know you, right? It could be something small like a hair clip, socks, a small room decor, book, etc., it doesn’t need to be big to hold meaning. It doesn’t need to cost anything to be worth something. It’s just the thought, knowing that they know you and that they know you’d like this. I know how hard it is to be appreciative of gifts you genuinely don’t like, and I’m so proud that you are able to still show kindness towards people who you know tried.
