She wasn’t sure what it was that meant that Fridays were probably some of the slower days for her, but Cameron wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth either in regards to it. It meant that she was afforded the chance to go outside of the station to pick up lunch with a friend or just by herself and get away from all the paperwork for a while and it sure definitely meant that she was able to take a few extra minutes to enjoy the cold air of Virginia when she did go on her lunch every Friday. Granted, more often than not the lunches that she was taking were on her own and a necessity to clear her head for the worry of keeping her head on straight when it came to the SWAT team and their tendency to be more than a bit defensive when it came to her negotiation tactics.
Protectiveness and being overly cautious ran in their blood, she knew that. Didn’t mean that she liked it though.
Still, her favorite moments were certainly when she was wandering around the park, bundled in her thick jacket and a scarf with a cup of hot coffee in her hand where she could just watch the people roam around. More often than not retirees, the occasional kid that was skipping classes and people walking their dog were the most common at the park across from the station. And to be honest, these were the moments that helped her recenter herself to remind why it was that she did this particular job, with all the crazy in and outs and the frustrations that came right alongside it. It certainly would be easier if she’d just opened her own practice as a psychologist rather than going into negotiation, but definitely not as fun.
Looking down for a moment, Cam fiddled with her zipper as she turned the corner to head towards her usual bench, not quite paying as much attention as she should have been before bumping into another person, proceeding to spill her coffee on the pair of them. “Damn it, I’m so sorry!” she said, looking up for a minute and relaxing slightly when she recognized the face. “Well, at least it’s someone that I know. I really am sorry though, I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
