who: ericka wood (mentions of darren and elizabeth wood, james gardner, lucy gardner, nora zimmer and anthony chambers)
what: when ericka was too focused on despising vampires, and knowing she couldn’t share the fact she knew about supernatural beings with her best friend and she wasn’t as special as lucy, she found in a human faction the place to be exactly what she was meant to.
when: au
Ericka is seen as a normal and ordinary girl, who talks more than she should and very often let it slip things that could make people know that she isn’t in fact as oblivious to everything that happens around her than she makes them think she is. However, in this alternative universe, Ericka discovers that her little knowledge could make her become great and with that, perhaps her will of going against vampires could make her a great hunter, or a great help to the cause of protecting those who can’t protect themselves, like her mother once needed.
In my left hand there is the familiarÂ
In my right hand there's the great unknown
It was still hard to let go of the idea that she would no longer have her mother right beside her, even if it had been awhile already that it was happening to the redhead. The pain was still there and she knew that her father was also struggling every single day and with every part of their house that would remind him or Elizabeth. She wanted to find a way to help him, but there was no way of doing such thing, instead her mind was always jumping to her hatred towards vampires, the kind that was the reason why she didn’t have a mother right now, that turned her life into a living hell but weren’t able to change her. Ericka went through all the pain like every single human being is suppose too, and with the help of her friends, when she was around someone it was easier to deal with the pain. After all, despite the war, she was still able to understand that it weren’t their faults, especially Lucy. Vampires were part of the other coven, so if there was someone she could blame it would be the Adrasteia coven and their lack of control over their own members; and she wanted to blame them, but she couldn’t.
Acting up would make everyone aware of something her father didnt want them to know: that Ericka wasn’t a simple human, that she was acquainted with everything that was happening in Moon Island. Darren Wood was usually with James Gardner, and it could make her eventually decide it was a good idea to become part of the Bricket Wood coven as her best friend was part of it, and so was a great amount of friends she had done through the course of her life, but part of herself couldn’t understand how she could be part of it inside a coven. After all, Ericka wasn’t a witch nor a werewolf, she didn’t have anything to offer besides her great company and what exactly could she be to James was something that she knew the answer but would rather keep to herself. She just wanted to be useful so she wouldn’t have the same destiny her mother had.Â
It took her a bit of research, just like she had done with Bricket Wood and Adrasteia before, without her father’s knowledge, to find something in the island that wasn’t part of the war history: the Liberatores. It was one more night of lack of sleep, while Lucy was already sleeping and dreaming, when Ericka decided to wander around Lucy’s house and eventually found some documents about the faction; of course that information about it was something she didn’t find, but it seemed as if it was an important one or else James probably wouldn’t care about it. And that little sparkle was everything she needed to go after the faction and get to know more about it.
Are you drifting way beyond what's normal?
Next morning, the next thing she did was go after someone, anyone that could make her understand about it. Anthony Chambers, a man she had seen before in that town was her first choice; it was hard to keep a conversation with him, but eventually she had to make him know how much she already knew about the supernatural world so she could convince him that she was ready to be part of something, to make difference. But the conversation wasn’t between her and Anthony, she had heard from him that someone else would be able to know if she was indeed what they needed and after a long ride, she met a woman in a cafe. A powerful woman, that she soon discovered to be the leader of the faction. As Nora sat in front of her, Ericka held the glass of water in front of her during the entire meeting. “My mother... she was killed by a vampire.” Her tone was low so no one else but Anthony and Nora could hear her. “Maybe the vampire was neutral, maybe the vampire was part of the Adrasteia coven, but I don’t want it happening to anyone else I care about. I don’t want people to keep dying and being seen as casualties of war, if anything happens to my father, I don’t even know what would be of me.” It was the first time Erick wasn’t doing jokes or doing all the talk. “I’m ready to learn, I mean it. I could be part of the Bricket Wood coven if I wanted to, but there isn’t much a human could learn with witches and warlocks. With you, I can be worth something, I can be special.”
Nora didn’t say anything for a great amount of time, which only made Ericka even more wary about it all. Maybe she would fail, and she was never meant to be part of something else than just a human in the middle of war; but as Nora got up, she looked at the red head and the next words was everything she needed to hear: See you on Monday and we’ll talk about it. Ericka tried her best to hold all the excitment inside her body until Monday came and she couldn’t do the same as new words came out of Nora’s lips: Welcome to the Liberatores.

wanted to fight this war without weapons. (sorchallenge ii)
who: tamsin (mentions of caleb walker, richard and tanya walker)
what: what would have happened if tamsin had never been part of bricket wood and eventually wouldn’t join the cause of getting revenge against adrasteia?
when: au
In real life, in that universe, once Caleb’s words reached her ears, despite how good-looking he was and his devilish eyes devouring her, Tamsin simply smiled and laughed, finding soon a friend in him. But what if instead of ignoring his attemps to flirt with her, Tamsin had treated him like she always did with men: just another one? What if she had become one of his one night stands and was never introduced by Caleb to the Bricket Wood coven?
Once she had gotten up from Caleb’s bad and placed her clothes on, she was actually glad he didn’t make a fuss about it. Tamsin had always hated men who would tell her she could stay, or eventually embrace her to fall asleep with him when all she wanted to leave and never go back; Caleb was the first that shared this feeling, and once he turned his body to stop facing her as a way of making her aware that it was time to leave, Tamsin was already moving herself up, picking up her clothes and putting them on, grabbing later her purse on his couch and leaving the house. It was always like this, trying to fill a void that would never be filled, it was a moment she could free herself from her darkest and worst thoughts. Sex had become some sort of escape, but like a drug that brings euphoria while it lasts, once the effect ends and the bad trip comes to surface there’s no way to avoid those thoughts. So, by the time she closed his door, reality hit her as the cold wind came against her body.
Hopeless, without help and without the desire of asking for help, Tamsin was left by herself to fight for a cause that was only hers. Her grandma wanted her out of all the trouble that this war could cause, so she was never part of the Bricket Wood coven because of her family; her grandma always said that once it was in the known that she was the daughter of Richard and Tanya, it was a matter of time before the consequences would hit her. Tamsin didn’t care, she was careless about her life, often placing herself in situations of danger but since she didn’t want her grandma to suffer another loss, the brunette would try her best to keep herself apart from the war, and with that, the only way to get revenge for her parents was by making as much effort as possible to get answers, any sort of information about that moment.
She was a neutral, someone that was even more in danger than anyone else. A witch with no side, a ticking bomb, just waiting for the right time to explode close to those she wanted to hurt. Without help, Tamsin didn’t know which side to go after, without help and without her grandma to give her the true information about that day, Tamsin was just one more witch inside that island, seeking for revenge and failing to get it.Â
After a long time walking until her house, small and slow steps from Caleb’s to hers. Tamsin finally got inside, throwing her purse on her couch and making her way until the kitchen to grab her bottle of vodka, a glass and move herself down to the basement. She knew she needed a shower, but she was so tired that if she did such thing her body would crave for a bed, and she couldn’t allow herself to rest when her enemy was still there, alive, without facing the consequences of killing her parents, and because of it she wouldn’t sleep... not tonight. With Caleb’s smell exhalating from her skin, Tamsin turned the light on from the basement, where it could be found news on the wall, a board with assumptions that was still leading her to nowhere, memories from her and her parents that could never be kept on her house or else they would know who she truly was, the only place from her house that she could actually call home and that eventually showed how twisted the witch was.
“Come on, Tamsin,” she whispered to herself as she poured some drink on the glass, trying her best to drink it all at once as the alcohol would burn her throat; something she was already used to. “Answers, I need answers.” Her voice was slightly louder, before she threw the glass across the room, placing her hand on top of her head and still holding the glass with the other one. It was a pathetic and endless research for something that she knew she clerly couldn’t do by herself. But Tamsin didn’t have no one to trust, she was alone in this, alone in her revenge and in life. Just another neutral.
Hello, all you lovely DinoSORs! Here is your second writing challenge to bring a different mind set for you and your character(s)!
Adrasteia, Bricket Wood, or neither (or even the quiet Liberatores). Whether you were born on Moon Island or have made it your home, you have chosen a side. The reasoning of choosing a side ranges from family roots, protection, similar beliefs, or maybe even hatred of a certain species. But what if you hadn’t gone with the coven you are in now but the opposite one? What if instead of choosing neutral, you decided to fight for a side. If you’re unaware of the supernatural world, what would it be like to know that supernatural people exist? Would your life be different than it is now? Would you be different?Â
This challenge is not mandatory, but we do persuade all of you to participate. A self-para would be the most ideal, but you may do this whatever way you wish. We hope all of you will give this challenge a chance as it’s a way to get to know even more about your character. Â
Don’t forget to tag your post as sofrpaths so we can appreciate your beautiful work! Have fun, everyone!
