Hiya! You called for content so here I am! How are you btw? I'd love to hear more about what you're working on too!
So I'm doing nano this year, but my own version where I aim to write 20mins a day. Wordcounts aren't motivating to me but I can almost always fit 20mins of writing into my day. It's been going really well! I'm also aiming to just write A Draft rather than write well, and reminding myself whenever I get stuck that I just have to make it exist, it doesn't need to be good, which has done wonders for me.
For my main wip I took my culture and beliefs and am writing a fantasy that builds off of it all, similar to, say, 'Deathless' which is based on Russian fairy tales, folk stories, culture, and beliefs. (Not in terms of quality, though that's a dream of mine, just in terms of content and style of storytelling). I've also managed to hit upon a folklore tone, which I'm really pleased with. It's called 'Legends of Mourra'. I'm very excited!
Ok this has been a long message so I'll stop here lol, but thanks for the opprotunity to share this with you! โค๏ธ
hello! this is a very late reply but I've been well, thank you!
I haven't been writing lately, mainly because of my day job and partly because I'm having trouble with my creative juices lately (currently trying to fix it with playlists and moodboards, which I might share one of these days hehe). Dead Man Walking occupies pretty much of the writing side of my brain, despite myself not doing any actual writing lmao.
Since I answered pretty late and it's already the end of November, I hope your Nano went well all throughout! I'm glad you found a system that worked for you, regularly finding 20 minutes of your day to write is an amazing thing. And I quite agree with your mindset! First drafts do not have to be perfect, and they don't even have to be good, they just need to be.
Also, Russian fairy tales! I think I haven't seen a lot of that around. Stories based on local fairy tales, culture, and beliefs hold a special place in my heart, because it's always a joy to get introduced to something completely new to you but has always been for some others. The Legends of Mourra sounds magnificent, I adore Sirin's devotion to her son. I hope to see more of it around writeblr!
Again, thank you so much for sending an ask! <3
