💛FEARLESS (TAYLOR’S VERSION)💛
Taylor’s version of Fearless brings back so many golden, sparkling memories, as I know it does for so many of you. My sister and I would BLAST this CD in the car and scream-sing the lyrics, which we learned not from the internet but from that slippery pamphlet thing that came in the CD case because we didn’t have iPhones yet. (I’m grateful tbh.)
What was going down when Fearless came out in 2008 (besides the stock market)? Well, I was 15, which meant playing a lot of tennis, wearing a lot of Soffes (and feeling ✨risqué✨ for rolling them twice), drinking at least one Slurpee a week, making waaay more than my fair share of duck faces in photo booth at the Apple store, and, as always, reading a TON of books.
I tried to commemorate some of those wonderful times in this photo, from the duck face to the shorts, because Fearless is the thread that ties them all together. My sister and I, now 28 and 25 instead of 15 and 12, drove to get our first Slurpees in over a decade while jamming to The Other Side of the Door (Taylor’s Version).
I HAD to put on a pair of Soffes - probably for the first time since 2008 - for the occasion, and am currently wondering why I let socially constructed fashion standards tell me they’re “out,” because they ROCK.
And, the BOOKS! 📚🌼💛
In 2008, I was very much into:
💛Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which came out in ‘07 but I promptly reread it several times throughout 2008.
💛City of Ashes: My sisters and I were (and still are) SO INTO this series. I can’t believe how far Cassandra Clare has come since this second installment came out 13 years ago. I thought Jace was so so so hot🤣
💛Breaking Dawn: BD was published a few months before Fearless. You KNOW I was projecting lyrics onto Edward and Bella’s relationship🥴
💛Battle of the Labyrinth: at 15, I wanted to be reading more “mature” and “grown up” things than Percy Jackson, but I couldn’t help but continue to love the series with my whole heart. Still do.
SWIFTIES: what do you THINK of this album? TALK TO ME!!
Otherwise, what was your 2008 like? Do you remember what music and/or books you were loving? DID YOU WEAR SOFFES 24/7 TOO?!
