The Autoknitter Sock Machine! This is a new piece in my collection. In addition to being a collectible fiber antique, it is also a heck of a workhorse. The Autoknitter machine was made in England, Canada, and the U.S. Though produced in different countries over a few decades, there are defining characteristics: they all have the same style of V-cam in the front, the same style of tear drop lifter cams, plus the identifying ây-shapedâ yarn mast. My machine is stamped âMade in Canadaâ. It is likely from the mid 1920s, and is the âduplexâ model, meaning it came with two different cylinders for knitting different weights of fabric. Iâve only had the machine for a month, but Iâm happy to say Iâve scaled the steep learning curve and Iâve produced a few pairs of socks. The âsunburstâ colorway was my first pair.Â
This is a much better sight! Â After the way the week started I was a bit worried, but alls well now. :)
So this happened on MLK Day. Â Just humming along (fixing my mistakes) and wham implosion! Â This is the first time something like this has happened to me on the sock machine. Â Funny now.

Here is a picture of my Auto Knitter sock machine Richard. It has the ribber on it. It has a tension mast with six eyelets for yarns. It also has another cylinder for 80 needles. The cylinder in it now has 72 needles. I need to buy a 60 needle cylinder for it. It came in a wooden box and also has a yarn winder that I did not take a picture of. Here are a couple of more pictures in my drop box

I will get back to my machines. However,I have been reading a manual on a sock machine that I borrowed from my sister and brother in law. They have had it for ten years and never used it.
