So'lek x Tamtey
close up bc I'm really light handed & gotta duplicate everything for it to be visible (too much effort for y'all not to see the details àČ€â _â àČ€)
1st comic panel ever (â äșșâ  â âąÍâ áŽâ âąÍâ )
why is this sm harder than it looks? (â  ͥâ °â ᎄâ  ͥâ °â  â Êâ )
freaking going in thinking something gonna be a quick draw but then you realize there's genuine layers to ts (literally & figuratively)
idk how to use my twitter but my friend said it's a trend there & sent me some pics for inspiration (twitter scary ngl)
EDIT: just found out that ppl been spreading my art w/o crediting me on twitter but I alr put "plz credit me" on all my socials (including MY twitter) & spammed tf outta my watermark, all this for it to get partially cut off đ«©
I have it in my head that braiding someone's kuru is a huge act of trust, both for the na'vi who is allowing the other to braid it and for the na'vi who is braiding it to show they can be trusted with it.
This to me means that very close friends, family and partners are usually the people who are braiding each other's hair, or healers and elders if the na'vi is unable to do it themselves or are away from the people that usually help them. I also take it as a way for na'vi to show their interest in each other i.e "I want to be someone who you can trust to care for you, or I want you to be someone I want to trust to care for me."
So, all that to write this.
Imagine that during a raid on an RDA base So'lek's arm ends up getting injured, its bad enough that Anufi relegates him to using an arm brace. With word of it getting back to Tamtey, who then decides that she's going to keep him company, and help out around the camp.
Tamtey to her credit doesn't baby him, she's mainly there to keep him from going crazy, she goes with him to forage and spear fish as they don't require two arms, helps cut up ingredients while he cooks, and even asks him for advice on fighting and tactics, y'know enrichment activities, but other than that she doesn't crowd him, just lets him do his own thing.
Then one day, when she comes back from taking out a base, she finds him sitting by the fire. His face is bare, his hair still wet from the river and unbraided down his back.
So'lek quietly asking her if she could help him with his hair and Tamtay trying not to freak out that he trusts her to that extent. He's a bit surprised at how gentle she is, carefully brushing out the knots, making sure she's sectioning out his shorter hair, when he tells her that she doesn't have to be so gentle, that he won't break she acts as if he personally offended her. She goes so far as to say that even hardened warriors deserve softness, it melts him a little.
After that, once he's healed she'll still come over sometimes and help with dinner or they'll go over their gear and she'll take a moment to braid his hair, just giving themselves a sliver of normalcy and connection in the chaos of their lives.

Hold Me Tight | So'lek
Pairing: So'lek te Elusa Kiro'itan x Female Tamtey!Reader
Summary: Your pregnancy was a welcome surprise, but unfortunately, it has made your past trauma manifest in a way that nobody expected.
Content warnings: PTSD, angst, nightmares, pregnancy, brief suggestive comment near the end and tooth-rotting fluff hopefully. The name 'Tamtey' is used once but this is basically an 'x reader' I just wanted to use the name - I am sorry if you do not like that lol. I don't think there's anything else but if there is, please DM/comment.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, triumphs and tribulations. You have come to know both sides of life quite well. Escaping from TAP. Working with the Resistance in the Western Frontier. Helping the Aranahe, the Zeswa, and both branches of the Kameâtire clan. Since waking up it feels as though you haven't stopped. It's only recently that you've began to slow down. And for good reason. You're pregnant.
Mating with So'lek was one of those things that was a long time overdue, everybody knew how you two felt about each other, but the fight had to be fought, so bonding just took a back seat for a while. When the smoke finally seemed to settle, So'lek went all out. First he taught you the general order of things, wanting you to learn and understand the Na'vi way after your unfortunately human upbringing. He then made sure that you were absolutely certain it was what you wanted, asking so many times if you really wanted to be with someone like him. Someone with scars. Something so permanent. You reassured him, of course, because you have scars of your own. And the permanence was just a bonus. You couldn't imagine spending your life with anyone else.
Then came the gifts. He crafted you a new bow, impossibly strong and sturdy whilst also being beautiful, baring the marks of the Trrâong and Sarentu clans. The latter of which he has formally been accepted into by yourself, Ri'nela, Teylan and Rasi, wearing the Sarentu mark on his cheek as you all do. You presented him with a new chest guard to replace the human tactical vest he'd been sporting. He joked that he felt naked without it and whilst you could happily stare at his lean build all day, you just couldn't have him be uncomfortable. He wears it all the time now. Except at home, of course. Anyway, one thing led to another and you finally mated on a beautiful night on Sarentu grounds, surrounded by nature and a glowing Tarsyu that seemed to glow brighter with the new bond, almost like it was signalling So'lek's acceptance into your clan and your life.
That was many many months ago now, and you've never been happier. So'lek is an attentive mate, still getting used to the way things are now and adapting to having the chance to relax. But you're both doing well. You've even been spending more time just relaxing with your mate and your friends at the Resistance base. Everyone is very, very happy for you and So'lek. They were all thrilled to hear that you'd bonded, and doubly so later on when the news came about that you were pregnant. However, pregnancy changes a lot of things and in you, it's brought about a sudden, let's say, personality change.
At first, you were still adjusting to the fact that you were carrying, and therefore going to have, a child. A pure, innocent little being that'd be totally reliant on you and So'lek. Though mostly you for the first months of life anyway. It was daunting to say the least. Your body hadn't yet changed at this point, so nothing really felt all that different.
But then time went on and you started to swell. A subtle difference at first, a little rounding to your lower belly that simply looked like you'd been indulging in too many of those sweet flans one of the Keâawa Kameâtire taught you to make. But the difference was noticeable. Not only to yourself but to everyone around you. You didn't think it'd be a problem, too happy seeing your baby grow to think anything could go wrong. And then the nightmares started again.
You don't really remember your mother, Kataru. All you know is what you learned through your journeys across the Frontier. You were taken from her, and she was killed. Leaving you and your sister, Aha'ri, to be taken by the RDA for TAP, along with a few other children, and your clan slaughtered.
Your nightmares, however, have a slight change in character. You stand in your mother's stead, fighting to protect your baby. Only for you to be gravely injured, left to die, So'lek's screams of anguish ring in your ears as he too is slain, and the last thing you see before the life seeps out of you, is a human taking your baby away and the infants screams are the very last thing you hear as you fade into Eywa's embrace. Every time, you shoot upright, screaming, panting and sweating with tears cascading down your cheeks. So'lek wakes too, of course he does, he cares about you deeply. But you cannot bring yourself to speak of your nightmare, opting to cry in his arms as he holds you tightly until you fall asleep again. So'lek tries to ask, but any attempt falls flat and he knows better than to push. You will tell him when you are ready. He hopes.
Time goes on, the nightmares continue, your belly continues to grow daily. You've subconsciously began to shield yourself, a hand over your belly most, if not all, of the time. Ears flattening to your head when somebody looks at you a little too long. Posture rigid. Tail swishing a little like you're irritated. Over time it gets worse, your nose crinkling and quiet hisses slipping free whenever someone even walks near you. Anqa briefly compared you to whatever a âkittenâ is, because the hisses were so quiet and non-threatening, until you scowled at her playfully. At least that time it ended in humour.
Your behaviour is completely irrational and you know it, but it's like every human around you is a threat to your baby in your mind. You don't verbalise this of course, simply opting to hiss whenever you feel threatened. Which is, frankly, all the time at the Resistance base. And nobody is safe. With time, not even poor So'lek.
During yet another nightmare, you remember Mokasa, offering up your clan to the RDA to protect his own, and for some reason, your trauma addled, pregnant mind has twisted that memory into the idea that nobody can be trusted, human or Na'vi. You end up hissing at him, quite aggressively, on more than one occasion. Once when he came closer to help you get ready for the day, a ritual of sorts that started when you'd mated, and his hand brushed the side of your belly, you'd grabbed his wrist and hissed directly in his face, ears flattened, teeth bared and all. The shock and subsequent guilt were instant, and you apologised with tears in your eyes, rubbing at his wrist even though your grip truly hadn't been tight enough to hurt, like your subconscious was holding you back. The next time it happened was when you were getting off your ikran. You'd briefly lost your footing and So'lek caught you, but again, your mind perceived his grasp as a threat and you'd hissed at him again. That's just two incidents, there have been more. Regardless of it all, he forgave you quickly every time. But he did not forget. It only added to his worry.
You still have yet to verbalise what is going on, but for the most part, the people within the Resistance seem to back off a little, boiling it down to you being a protective first time mother. But you know it's more than that. It's trauma and pain and fear ingrained into every aspect of your being. You've hissed at So'lek a lot less lately. For some reason, your mind seems to have deemed him safe once again, and thank Eywa because it broke your heart seeing the shock in his eyes the few times it happened. You still take issue when he attempts to touch your belly, shrinking away whilst holding your bump until you catch yourself doing it and stop, allowing him to touch you. Specifically, you. Not your bump just yet. Every time with a sheepish expression and downturned ears. So'lek, of course, is saddened by being unable to touch your belly where your child grows, but seeing how distressed you became the few times he's tried, he figures it's best to wait for you to allow it. But as result, he may or may not have caught onto what is wrong, and the realisation weighs heavy in his heart. Like stones pressing down on him. He doesn't know what to do. All he can do is comfort you when you allow him to, and to make sure nobody gets close enough to set you off.
The problem only seems to get worse unfortunately. During another visit to the Resistance base, Priyah came bounding up to you all excited, babbling about how she 'hasn't seen you in ages' (it'd been a week) and you've 'grown so much' since she last saw you (you really haven't, maybe half an inch). She then makes the mistake of reaching a hand out towards you, ready to touch your belly, and your mind flashes with the images of a human stealing your baby from you whilst you and So'lek lay dying on the ground. The reaction is instant. Your body drops into a low squat, one hand guarding your belly and the other raised slightly, ears pinned to your head, maw parting to reveal sharp teeth as a violent hiss rips out of you, stopping quite literally everybody in their tracks as the sound echoes around the cave, sounding more like a thanator than a Na'vi. Your tail lashes violently behind you and nobody breathes, nobody moves but So'lek, his lean form crossing the room to stand by your side, an arm in front of you in case you do more than just hiss. Poor Priyah looks terrified, her hands darting away from you as Anqa comes forward to guard her, Priyah's hands quickly clutching onto Anqa's shirt. The protective and fearful motions are what stop you, and your hand moves to your face, covering your mouth slightly.
âI.. I'm sorry,â you gasp, shame trickling up your spine and making your chest feel tight before you rise up to full height, spin on your heels and run out of the base with So'lek on your tail. He follows you closely until you reach an isolated cliff, coming as close behind you as he can. He watches your body language closely, looking for tension, but when there is none, he steps up behind you and gently caresses down your spine, just above your tail.
The gesture breaks you, tears streaming like waterfalls, your body crumbling to the ground like poorly stacked stones as So'lek follows, not allowing you to hit the ground at all. He cradles you in his arms, your body on his lap and his hands gentle on your skin, tracing over your stripes, not your scars because he knows you hate when people pay attention to the raised marks. Harsh sobs wrench their way out of your chest, heavy and erratic and painful. You feel like you can hardly breathe. Every ounce of pain and trauma seems to rattle its way out of you now. Everything you'd kept bottled up for so long, all the fear and the weight of your nightmares. It's all coming out now. So'lek feels his heart shatter.
âMa Tamtey.. Nga yawne.. You are safe. I have you.â He speaks so softly, so tender with you even when you know you've been so unkind, even if it is unintentional. Your wails ring out through the clearing, carrying with them the pain that you've endured and the fear in your heart. You turn in So'lek's arms, burying your face against his neck as you sob out apology after apology. He simply shushes you gently, aware of all that you've been through. Your tail gently entwines itself with his, trembling faintly like you fear rejection, but So'lek would never. His tail even tightens around yours before looping around your waist, the soft tuft of hair brushing over your belly gently. For once, you don't hiss. You welcome the touch.
At this, the guilt strikes deep, cutting like the sharpest of blades as you realise what you've been doing. Depriving your mate and the father of your child from feeling your baby grow. Your vision is blurred over by tears but your hand reaches for his, trembling far harder than he has ever seen before. You gently take his hand, bring it closer and place it right over the swell where your baby resides.
âI- I'm sorry, yawntu.. I-â The words struggle to come out as your chest stutters in a fight to breathe normally. You can feel the way So'lek's tail shudders around your own in response to feeling your belly, the small life growing within, almost fluttering beneath your skin as it rolls around in there, only recently starting to move. He leans in to press soft kisses to your head, purring softly as his nose brushes down your ear and the side of your face. You whisper another apology, and he simply shakes his head in response, his thumb rubbing over the soft skin of your tummy.
âSpeak to me, sevin. Tell me your fears. I wish to help you carry them,â he murmurs into your hair. âI can take no more of this. Seeing you so fearful.. I will not.â
Your head lifts and you finally lock eyes with So'lek, his expression physically crumpling at the sight of your tear streaked, slightly purple cheeks. He releases his hold on your belly, stroking his thumb under your eyes to swipe away your tears whilst nodding to encourage you.
âI- My nightmares.. Have all been of the same thing, So'lek. Losing our child to them. Our baby,â your voice wavers, but So'lek remains patient, quiet, and wholly empathetic. He understands loss better than anyone. âOur baby suffering the way I did, the way Ri'nela and Nor and Teylan an- And Aha'ri..â Your voice breaks saying the name of your poor, dear sister. âI will not let it happen.â
He sighs, nodding slowly as understanding washes over him. He hates that he was right in his assumptions. His arms tighten just slightly around your body, loose enough for you to bolt if you feel the need to do so, but tight enough to offer you the feeling of safety that you so desperately need as you continue to speak.
âAnd then I remember Mokasa, how he did what he did to save his own people but cost me mine. The pain of what he did will never be unwritten or forgotten. So now I-â
âYou do not know who to trust,â So'lek interrupts, his tone calm and full of understanding as always.
You shake your head gently, more tears cascading across your skin, your heart burning with shame. You hear So'lek sigh and bow your head on instinct, hiding your face from him as the shame burns hotter, scared for the reaction he'll have. He must be furious with you for it, for distrusting everyone around you, even him! Your vision blurs with tears once again, tail wriggling anxiously where it is still wrapped around So'lek's. You're surprised he hasn't pulled away. But your anxiety is clouding everything you know. So'lek is not an angry man, not unless he has to be. The last time you saw him angry was when you were both captured by Bukowski and the Ash. Eventually you notice that he seems to get closer, cradling you close in his arms and pushing your head to lean against his chest, his heart beating steadily, almost calmly. A far cry from what you feared. Your eyes fall closed as you listen to the comforting sound of his heart and voice, your tears staining his skin.
âI understand you, yawntu. Loss is a heavy burden. One we know well. Our baby will not know loss like we have. They will not know the pain. I will not allow it. Our little family is safe.â His understanding is a boon for your soul, soothing some of those fears even just a little bit.
A little bit helps. But So'lek is determined to comfort you, continuing to speak.
âI will do everything in my power to keep you both safe. And our friends are good people. The humans here have no love for the RDA, and the clans have fought at our side to stop them as well. They will not allow harm to come to you or I and most definitely not our child. No more children will be taken by them. The people would fight to the death to stop them. You know this.â
Your body sinks into So'lek's embrace, exhausted from your emotions, a soft purr of appreciation rumbling hoarsely out of you, a sound that prompts So'lek to kiss your head again whilst trilling a purr in response. His hand gently drifts over your belly again, testing the waters, and this time, you don't even flinch, allowing him to trace his fingers over the stripes on your growing tummy.
âThank you, ma So'lek..â You whisper, too exhausted to speak any louder. He hums in response, placing yet another kiss on your forehead this time. Your own hand slowly drifts to rest over the back of his, holding it over your growing womb.
âYou are most welcome, yawne. If your fears grow again, tell me. I will help. If you need help, I will be here. I will carry them with you as long as we both live. Do not carry them alone. I will reassure you whenever you need it. For now, enjoy this time before our child enters the world,â he murmers, voice soft and warm as always, looking down at your face, all purple cheeked and puffy eyed from crying but still so beautiful.
âAnd you do not have to let anyone touch you if you do not want. That is your choice. But you cannot keep hissing at people, hm? Gave Priyah quite a fright.â His tone is lighter on that last part but you groan softly, embarrassed and overwhelmingly guilt ridden over how badly you scared the poor woman. You eventually muster a short laugh when you dwell on your behaviour, hissing at everyone who looks your way. You shake your head slightly, looking up at your mate, offering a very half-hearted but playful hiss.
âNo promises. But, yes, I will apologise to Priyah.â You already have a gift planned to apologise to the poor girl. Silence falls between the two of you as your teary sniffling calms into regular little breaths, soothed by the touch of your mate and the sound of his heartbeat. The fear is still there, and part of you knows it always will be, but having So'lek by your side makes things just that bit easier. All you need is him, to be in his arms, to feel his warmth, hear his heart.
The two of you continue sitting there until Eclipse, watching the vast land beneath the cliff become vibrant with glowing life. Life that your child will know plenty of. They will not know the metal world of the Sky People. Not like you did. And as the forest glows, teeming with the energy of Eywa's children, your own decides to make itself known, a tiny hand pressing up into So'lek's palm. He looks at you in awe as he huffs a laugh of disbelief before leaning down carefully to press his lips to the soft skin of your tummy, ghosting over that tiny hand.
"Hello, 'itetsyĂŹp, I am your sempu and I love you very very much already. You will always be loved by your sa'nu and I."
A laugh bubbles out of you, the whispered words tickling your skin before it dawns on you what So'lek just said. 'Little daughter.'
"You think it is a girl?" You ask quietly, threading your fingers between So'lek's braids to rub at his scalp. He hums softly, content with your touch and with the feeling of his child under his hand.
"I hope. Raising a little girl as phenomonal as you would be an honour, yawntu." The words bring more tears to your eyes, but at least they're not of sadness this time.
"The next one can be a little boy like you, hm?" So'lek's eyes meet yours at that, full of amusement that you're already planning for the second child when your first is still within your womb.
"Let us have this one first, yawne, you may change your mind" he says with eyes full of mirth, taking your hand in his to press a kiss to your palm. "But I will give you as many children as you wish." Your cheeks flush purple at the suggestive comment, smacking his arm playfully before shifting out of his grasp and moving to lie down on the soft mosses, not having to beckon So'lek to follow because your tails are still linked and he hardly wants to be apart from you right now. Neither do you want to be apart from him honestly. He lets you settle first before moving to lay his head against your belly, resuming his previous task of talking to your unborn infant.
You watch as So'lek spends time with your little one, his head now carefully pressed against you as he whispers softly to your tummy, like he's sharing secrets with the little one, and you just know that, regardless of whether you have a boy or a girl, that baby will have So'lek wrapped around their tiny fingers.
Oh, Eywa, you truly blessed me with this man.

So'lek: Tamtey... what is that?
Tamtey: Nectar and meat.
So'lek: That's disgusting.
Tamtey: Yeah, not one of my better experiments.
So'lek: So then why are you eating it?
Tamtey: I'm not gonna waste food!
So'lek: I'm almost afraid to ask: what was that empty plate?
Tamtey: Egg and mushroom.
So'lek: Tamtey!

Soâlek x Tamtey | Romance | Drama | Angst | 18+
Summary : Set after the events of âFrom the Ashesâ The Sarentu clan are adjusting to life after the string of tragedies together. In the midst of everything Riânela and Tamtey suddenly go into heat (Tiâsom). Causing two certain Naâvi to confront their hidden feelings.
My first contribution to the Soâtey nation đ«Ą. Iâve had this brewing for a while now. I wanted to explore the idea of Naâvi going into heat, what it would be like, how would they handle and view it, etc. The Sarentu are still learning Naâvi ways as well so it makes an interesting situation. Although this is 18+ I will admit there is hardly any smut in this. Mainly this is a one shot of Soâtey having parallels to Neytiri and Jake. If there is a demand Iâll write an extra chapter set after these events. In the meantime enjoy âš
Voices carried throughout the camp, most of the Sarentu sat around the fire, eating and visiting in peace. Enjoying the bounty from a recent hunt done by So'lek and Nor surprisingly. A Sarentu specialty served by Rasi herself. It lifted the spirits of everyone who dined.
All except for Tamtey who was gone âexploringâ according to Ri'nela. So'lek was once used to having Tamtey traveling, meeting new people, being the true Sarentu that she is.
Until the RDA and Mangkwan clan ripped her from his side. Before and after, no matter how much time passed or travels she went on, one thing stayed true. That she was a constant in his mind.
So'lek had grown extremely protective and possessive of the Sarentu clan as a whole. After defeating Wukula and saving the others he felt constantly on guard. Knowing it'd be a matter of time before evil struck down like lightning again. He struggled to let his guard down this time around.
Directing his energy to hoard the Sarentu clan in an almost greedy like way. Everyone knew his anxiety and stress wouldn't be easy to quell. Rasi consoled him and the others greatly. Urging everyone discreetly to listen to So'leks requests for the time being.
So'lek and Tamtey joined to help with matters amongst the clans together. Similar to their usual routines of countless missions together. Except he never let Tamtey fly alone, along with the rest of the Sarentu, much to N'or's annoyance.
But when Tamtey urged him, practically begging, to let her travel alone he hesitated. Everything in him wanted to demand Tamtey stay close, close as possible, he already almost lost his mind when Tamtey was first taken.
Even more so when she was the last to be found. A blame he had been shouldering long after the battles had been won. Even after everyone's reassurance it did not soothe the pain of his failure.
He knew the Sarentu were nomadic, travelers, built to explore every corner of Pandora to tell it's stories. To deny Tamtey that right would be like cutting an Ikrans wings to fly. She could sense the hesitation in him but he still complied.
Promising she would be stealthy and return to him each time. He knew she would but hid his true feelings of possessiveness.
So far she hadn't come across anything on her travels that would raise alarms. No new activity was reported in the area, besides the RDA's poor attempt at patrolling, they didn't find anything on the radios either. Sneaking check ins behind N'ors back.
Despite everything So'lek noticed Tamtey had been more distant as of late. Even when she's near her mind is elsewhere. He could tell something occupied her mind. Something she didn't want to share or even talk about.
Usually it wouldn't bother him but since they had become close, through their shared experience and time on the battlefield together, the lingering tension between them had grown. Even more so after her kidnapping.
They never put a name to it. Never revealing their honest feelings, since the moments they shared alone, outside of missions were fleeting. So'lek felt a strong pull on his heart for Tamtey this he knew. But he didn't want to burden her with such things.
He was older and more experienced, albeit they were technically the same age, Tamtey had more to expect in life. With many prospects of a mate to choose from.
So'lek didn't want to force her to choose him, his fear of holding her back stopped him also, but he couldn't deny what he felt for her. A secret he held close to his self.
He wondered if he did something to lose her confidence in him. He wasn't sure how to handle such a delicate situation. Maybe she resented him for letting the Mangkwan take her after all.
When it came to Tamtey he felt almost clueless, not because he didnât know her, but he didn't understand how to confront her on their distance. How it bothered him to not know her intentions or travels. He was a man of solitude and restraint. So was she evidently.
He felt he was at a breaking point with her long absences. It had only been almost three weeks since he first let her go on her own. The others as well but even they knew they had to check in at a certain point. Which meant in person since N'or refused anyone a radio.
Did he even have a right to confront her? With his eyes on the fire he phased out most of the conversations around him. The flames entrancing him as he thought of what Tamtey was up to so late. Praying she wasn't in danger, and if she was, that Eywa would warn him in time.
The only thing that calmed him as of late besides the Sarentu were the tanaâring flowers. They decorated his camp area. The scent soothed him when Tamtey would be out late like this.
Focusing on his food, the scent in the air, he watched the flame dance and burn. The flame fanning the worst thoughts in his mind.
Ri'nela and Nor were visiting, she had missed him immensely, the two along with Teylan spent most of their time together lately. Trying to focus on staying as a family than what transpired during N'ors return.
All were missing Tamtey since she'd been gone more than them. They barely seen her leaving early this morning. Having no sign of her since.
After a few bouts of laughter and stories it had gotten dark. A bead of sweat dripped down Ri'nelas neck. Touching her nape she shivered. Abruptly getting up to leave she swayed to the side off balance.
Nor tried to catch her arm but was quickly swatted away by her. Catching everyone's attention by surprise. Breaking So'leks train of thought his protective instincts activated. Both Nor and So'lek stood up to try assisting her.
âRi'nela?â Teylan asked worried as she had a panicked look in her eyes. She stood up dumbfounded as everyone stared up at her. âI'm sorry I didn'tâ I just missed my step for a moment I am fineâ she assured as both N'or and So'lek scanned her.
âAre you sure? You look a bit pale from what I can see, it is hard to tell, come closer to the fireâ N'or insisted reaching for her hand. She took a step back faltering slightly, enough for the rest to catch, it raised everyone's panic. Rasi raised an eyebrow as she sat quietly observing.
âI am fine N'or. I think it's just from being so tired. I should go restâ She insisted as she dismissed her self. Bidding everyone a quick goodnight before storming away. Usually she'd wait up for Tamtey to come back. Her sudden behavior seemed unusual for everyone.
âRi'nelaâ N'or called out trying to follow her. So'lek as well as Teylan joined in on being concerned. Eyeing the two down as she left everyone.
âRi'nela!â He cried out again. Only for her to pick up her pace. Rasi then stood up and raised her hand softly.
âI will check on her and make sure she is alright. She might just need some rest like she said. N'or could you get something to help her sleep? There is usually a few flowers I like to use as a sedative near here. I am sure you will know which ones I am talking aboutâ
N'or stood still for a moment assessing before nodding softly. Heading up the cliff on his mission. Teylan sighed as he placed his food down. âFirst Tamtey now Ri'nelaâ he said making So'leks anxiety churn.
âWhat do you meanâ
âI just mean I'm worried about the two of them. Tamtey is never this late and Ri'nela did look pale. I wish N'or trusted technology more, at least if Tamtey had a radio, we could check on her. One less worryâ
âPerhaps I should look for her on Ileyâ So'lek said already in motion for his gear and ammo. âGood idea. I'll help look with Adaâ Teylan said assured. âMaybe this time we both take a radio. We can keep each other updated on locations and Ri'nelas conditionâ
âHmâ So'lek grunted as they both sprung into action. As if they never left the battlefield working as one mind. Before they could even break apart Rasi came running with her hands waving.
âNo! Do not leave the fire! Cover your faces!â She urged as they stepped back panicked. âYou cannot leave this area until I say so!â Rasi demanded as the two kept backing up.
âWhat is it?!â
âWhat is wrong?!â
Rasi tried to regain her composure and settle the two before her. Seeing how their instincts flared up. âIt is not wise for you two to see Ri'nela at the moment. Did N'or come back yet?â She asked awaiting for him to reveal his self.
âNo, tell me what is wrong, do we have enemies near?â So'lek asked as his warrior instincts were in full swing. His eyes focused intensely around them. Scanning for any signs of danger. Hand on the dagger by his side.
âNo enemies or battles ahead. It is justâŠâ Rasi struggled to gather her words together. âRi'nela is good butâŠâ she dragged on not looking either in the eye.
âWhat?â Teylan questioned still full of worry. Suddenly something dropped from behind Rasi, she whipped her head to see N'or, standing still he dropped the bundle of flowers in his hand.
âNo! Get back!â She demanded as she rushed to him. N'or was covering his nose as he turned to her already coming. âGet back!â He shouted this time as him and Rasi urged them away. Rasi went behind N'or putting a block between him and where Ri'nela was.
âIt's her heat, Tiâsom, we all need to leaveâ N'or urged as he keeled over onto Teylan weak from her scent. âForgive me Ri'nelaâ N'or said as he inhaled fresh air into his lungs.
âHeat? But I-I thought we couldn't get them? Mercer said we shouldn't be able to get them anymoreâ Teylan stuttered flustered by the scene.
âYeah well that was back when we were getting suppressant shots every other week. Our bodies must now finally be regulated to our new environmentâ N'or explained as Teylan helped him to stand.
âIt shouldn't be possibleâ Teylan insisted âI overheard Mercer one time. He said we were to be spayed and neuteredâ this caught N'ors attention.
âWhat is spayed and neutered?â So'lek asked innocently confused. N'or stood up straight trying to recollect his self.
âYou do not need to know. Teylan it's obvious he did not do that. What else do you think those weekly needles were for? It does not change how Ri'nela isââ he stopped his self from even uttering the word heat again.
âYes Rin'ela is having her Tiâsom for what I believe is the first time. It seems to be strong even for a Na'vi. She will need to be isolated until it is doneâ Rasi said as So'lek thought it over.
âYou two can camp here with Tamtey. I am sure we can find somewhere else to stay in the meantimeâ So'lek urged.
âI will keep her close to the camp. But she can not stay here or her scent will linger even after the Tiâsom is over. It is best I take her somewhere secluded. Otherwise you three will be uncomfortable for a long timeâ
The three awkwardly stood around as Rasi tried to handle it all with ease. âNow stay out of the camp until I say so. Ri'nela is embarrassed as is she does not need you all to lingerâ she said in a shameful tone.
âYou do not need to tell me twiceâ N'or said walking to the edge of the camp. Trying to hide how Ri'nela's scent affected him. Teylan following shortly behind him.
âI can not leave without knowing where Tamtey isâ So'lek stressed earning a soft smile from Rasi. âYour devotion is admirable but it is best for you to leave too. All of you take oneâ she said handing over their old radios.
N'or opened his mouth to argue before getting stopped by Rasi. âI do not want to hear it. We need to stay in contact without crossing paths. This is our only option. Once Tamtey is back I will send word to you allâ
ââŠFineâ
With no words left to say they all left to their ikrans. Deciding where they should linger for the time being. Teylan and N'or took to the skies. So'lek still grabbed his armour and ammo. Earning a concerned look from Rasi who paused.
âSo'lekâŠâ she said in a quiet tone. He didn't bother to look up at her, instead his focus hardened onto Tamtey, gripping the gun in his hand. âI will returnâ he simply stated.
âSo'lek I urge you to waitââ
âWhat if she is hurt? Unable to call for help? Laying somewhere lost? She could have come across the RDAâ I can not waitâ he said spilling out his worst thoughts.
âSo'lekâ Rasi said sternly making him realise how he was shaking as she grabbed his hand. Her touch soothing and comforting. Bringing his focus back to reality.
âI am worried about her too. But you can not let fear continue to blind and control youâ Rasi said as So'lek stood silently.
âI see how you struggle to live here. In the present with us. Your mind is stuck on the battlefield which I do not blame you for. And I know I can not change or help that. When you find Tamtey, as I know and trust you will, express your fear to herâ
So'lek turned away disregarding her keen words. âI know how you worry and stress over her most of all. We are not blind. We are not upset over it. But Tamtey can not read your mind for you. I would hate to see you resent her for being the Sarentu that she isâ
His ears quipped back as he gritted his teeth. âThat is not what I am trying to doâ he insisted with his eyes still away from her.
âTamtey will continue to be the envoy that she is. She will travel corners of this world just as our ancestors have done. I just⊠All she needs to know is that we will support and join herâ
â I want her to be the Sarentu that she is. To teach me what it is to be one as well. I justâŠâ So'lek struggled to find the words. How could he even begin to explain the hold she had over him?
ââŠI just want her safe. I do not want them getting their hands on her, or any of you, ever again. I just do not know how to keep her safe when she is always on the move without me. She does not even have a radioâ
â⊠I know. We all know. It is Tamtey who does not know which is why I urge you to speak with her. She deserves to knowâ
âHow can I tell her to stop being who she is? All because of my selfish worryingâ
âYou do not have to ask her to stop anything. Just speak to her on your honest feelings. That is what she deserves to hear.â
The two finally looked at one another. Rasi had a warm smile as So'lek stood with his brows furrowed. So'lek understood what Rasi was pointing to. The look in her eyes said everything she didn't need to.
âI will send word once I find herâ he insisted as Rasi dismissed him with a nod. Calling for Iley he packed his supplies and mounted her to fly. Thinking of which direction she could possibly be.
Tamtey laid on the comfortable mat she had made. Shivering as beads of sweat rolled down her head and neck. Her lower abdomen flushed and pulsating uncomfortably. Curling into her self the tears pooled in her eyes. Thinking back to the last few weeks.
After being saved by So'lek he insisted the Sarentu live with him. Not wanting the them to go back to the resistance. Since there was hardly anything left. Soâlek insisted they would rebuild a new life together. Serving as diplomats to the other clans.
It shocked the clan as a whole, even Tamtey, considering how much he loved his solitude and personal space. He insisted all they needed to do was bring their items and make it their home.
Settling in Tamtey could feel a shift between her and So'lek. How he lingered not too far from her, his eyes watching from a careful distance, yet when she'd approach he'd become dismissive.
When she learned how So'lek tore out the RDA and Mangkwan practically alone, for her clan, it stirred her heart even more. Although according to the others he did it for her.
Her heart raced knowing everything So'lek did for her, confirming the feelings she already stored away, she hadn't seen So'lek as just a mentor in a long time. But even now she didn't dare to hope he hadn't seen her as anything more than a student.
Tamtey was still upset at herself over what happened to her. Being locked as a prisoner again triggered her TAP trauma. So'leks words rung through her ears âa child's fearâ on repeat.
The thought of him dead because of her fear, if she wasnât so scared, maybe she wouldnât have been caught off guard. Instead she was stupidly taken away and So'lek left for dead. The rest of her clan at risk without her.
It didnât help being isolated on her own for so long. What was worse was when they took her she expected torture, that she could handle, instead they completely left her alone. Her mind racing was torture enough. Focused on her childish mistakes she became enraged.
Becoming known as a violent prisoner to the RDA and Mangkwan quickly. Since Tamtey constantly fought back and tried to weaken her cell at every chance. Almost escaping at every opportunity. They eventually kept her dull with oxygen, enough to keep her awake, and too weak to fight back.
The only one who came to interrogate was Bukowski. With his taunting and updates on everyone's effort to save her. Singing Sarentu songs that she herself didn't know through the speakers. It was somehow worse than torture.
To find out So'lek was alive all along was one of her only solaces. Assured that he would find her somehow someway. Thinking back to when he saved her mom's song cord, brought tears to her eyes, curling into herself even more.
One of the first nights back from Bukowski, Tamtey struggled to sleep, reverting back to how she was in containment. Nightmares plagued her as she tossed and turned endlessly.
Shooting up she gasped for air waking abruptly, only to be met with So'leks hands on her shoulders, eyes staring into her. âTamteyâ he said gently as her chest heaved in and out heavily.
âYou are safeâ he repeated till it stuck as she felt tears welling in her eyes. âSorry⊠I'm sorryâ she said trying to catch her breath. Placing his hand on her chest, he inhaled through his nose, motioning her to copy him, she inhaled slowly matching his rhythm.
His eyes scanned her with worry, she watched as he intently made sure she caught her breath, the night sky shining on his features softly. âDo not apologizeâ he spoke softly as she stared up at him.
A moment passed between them as he gazed at her in the eye. Tamtey felt drawn to him like no other. Slowly his eyes trailed downwards. Realizing his hand placement he pulled his self back. Breaking the tension he got up to give her space.
ââŠI⊠know how it is. It is hard to find peace with the life we live. Night seems to bring that side out greatlyâ
âYeah⊠I didn't mean to wake youâ
âI was not sleepingâ he simply stated as he stirred a pot over the fire. Noticing how he still wore his gear despite the late hour. His dagger attached to his hip, she noticed he hadn't rested at all, iley was perched close.
âWere you⊠patrolling?â
She seemed to be right as he stayed quiet. Only giving a mere glance as an answer. âYou do know you need rest as well right?â She said in a hushed but cheeky tone. So'lek grunted as a reply.
âIâm serious So'lek. You're still healing from some of your injuries. Dapophet can't fix everythingâ
Tamtey couldn't see the soft smile that spread across his face. Solek walked over to where she was, handing her a cup of hot tea, with one for him as well.
âShare a drink with me. Since neither of us can restâ
He sat across from her sipping his already. The scent was familiar as she brought it to her face. Looking at the fire there sat a pouch of white flowers.
âTana'ringâŠâ she trailed on as she realised what was in the cup. âAlong with healing properties it is good for restless sleepers like usâ Tamtey felt a warm familiar feeling wash over her.
They sat in comfortable silence as they sipped hot tea. The soft breeze and his scent lulled in the air. She gazed at him before overlooking the scenery. Trying to shut out the horrific dream she just had.
ââŠThank you⊠I needed thisâ she said still looking onward. His eyes glanced over to her, scanning intently, noticing the sunkeness of fatigue in her eyes.
â⊠With the warriors life we chose rest is hard to come by. Peaceful rest especiallyâ
âHmâ Tamtey agreed as she sipped once more. âI guess we rest when we're dead huh?â She tried to make it sound like a joke. But as it rolled off her tongue it upset both of them. So'lek furrowed his brow making her regret it immediately.
âSorry. Don't mind me. I'll leave you alone once I'm done this tea. Lack of rest doesn't sit well with me obviouslyâ
âI do not mind the company. You are usually up at this hour so I thought I would join you this timeâ
Tamtey looked up at him surprised, thinking he hardly noticed her and her habits, but apparently he did. âTrue I usually am up this lateâ the two smiled softly at one other.
Another beat passed as they sat in silence. So'lek couldn't help but glance over, seeing Tamtey play mindlessly with her mother's song cord, it concerned him how her eyes drifted off.
âAre you⊠Okay?â
He asked simply which caught her attention. Not realizing how she was fidgeting with the beads until she saw him staring at her wrist. Tucking her hand away she sighed.
âYeah⊠It's justâŠâ Tamtey trailed on hesitating. So'lek softly gazed at her, not pushing her or forcing her, but showing he was listening.
âI'm sure you're the same way. Maybe not. Constantly plagued with nightmares from the past. Memories I donât want to remember coming up in my dreamsâ
He sat in silence as she clutched the cup in her hands. Staring into the cup as it lightly reflected on her. âEvery night. I dream I'm back in that⊠thatâŠâ she struggled making So'lek sit upright.
âThat podâŠYou want to know something?⊠In all my years laying there sleeping⊠I never once dreamt in that⊠machine. It was just endless darkness and silence from what I could remember. Everytime I close my eyes I feel like iâm there again. Stuck. And that everything I've done since you saved me from there is a dream. That it all isn't true and I'm just stuck there till I die. What if it's true?âŠâ
â⊠I never meant to say your fear was childishâ
So'lek said slightly cutting her train of thought. She looked at him with an eyebrow raised. Regret filled his eyes as he met with hers.
âBefore they took you⊠I never meant to say such a thing. I just⊠It is not childish at all. I can not understand the horrors you and your clan went through. The things you were forced to learn. But I did say it and they took you before I couldââ
He placed the cup down near him. Gritting his teeth as he looked away in shame. Tamtey felt the sincerity radiating off him. Taking a moment to gather her words.
ââŠEverything I've done up until now is all thanks to you. If it wasn't for you I'd be dead by the Mangkwan, or the RDA, or even worse I'd be dead in that machine. All the times I've been in danger you've been there for me. And I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to thank you properlyâ
ââŠSeeing you and the rest of the Sarentu alive is more than enough for meâ he said facing her. Leaning in close to her. Tamtey gazed at the mark on his cheek, the Sarentu symbol, marked on the same place as hers.
âYou are Sarentu now as wellâ she softly spoke as their eyes met. All their anxieties and worries seemed to melt away. Bringing each other comfort in ways they couldn't explain.
âIf they ever take you again I will save you. As long as I am alive all of you are safeâ
âI know. I just hope you know I will do the same for youâ
So'lek felt an urge to get closer to her, to sit beside her and soothe her worries more, Tamtey wanted to brush the marking under his eye. To admire the fact he was one of them now. Instead they both pulled back and finished their teas.
âYou should rest easier now. The Tana'ring will help with the dreamsâ he said trying to dismiss the whole situation. Getting up to leave again âIf I'm sleeping then you should tooâ she insisted. âPerhapsâ he said walking back to the fire pit.
âRest. You need it tooâ was all she said as she curled up in her hammock. Feeling way better than when she first got up. Althought So'lek tried to refute it he felt the heaviness in his eyes. Falling asleep around the same time as Tamtey.
The next morning Tamtey felt more drawn to So'lek than usual. Maybe it was the comfort he brought to her last night. Or maybe she had overthought their moments together. She was eager to see him either way.
After getting ready for the day she searched for him. Wanting to take a flight together, race like usual, she loved how his forehead furrowed when he was losing. A sight she only seen in rare instances.
So'lek sat at the fire eating a steamed bun. Rasi was the only one who sat with him. As the others seemingly already left for the day.
They spoke in hushed voices over what seemed serious. Until the two looked up to greet her, stopping the conversation, Rasi pulled back to her spot.
Tamtey brushed it off as she approached. So'lek looked up to see a certain spark behind her eyes. It made him nervous as he shifted in his seat.
âNo.â He stated turning away from her. âGood morning to you too. I didn't even say anything yetâ Tamtey fussed as she stood near him.
âI know you are going to ask me something ridiculous. I have no time to entertain todayâ
âI just wanted to see if you wanted to go for a flight togetherâ Tamtey suggested as he grumbled. Rasi watched over the two closely.
âI would go myself but then it would start something completely different than what's happening nowâ Tamtey said earning a laugh from Rasi. So'lek sighed as he placed his bun down.
âIley is resting they do not need spend energy for nothing right now. You are just going to make it into a raceââ
âYes exactly! But mostly I want to check on the regrowth in the forest. Surely some places have started to healâ
âI can not today. I am busy with Etuwa patrolling laterâ So'lek said as her hopes faltered. âEtuwa?â She asked as he nodded.
âShe said she is worried of any RDA activity in the area. For peace of mind I am taking herâ
Tamtey knew of what revenge So'lek had done for Etuwa. She also knew how Etuwa relied emotionally on So'lek during her captivity. Although she loved the tsahik she couldn't help but feel slightly jealous.
Hearing how So'lek saved her from certain death. There were rumors of the tsahik's affection towards a certain warrior. Tamtey didn't believe it till she seen how they acted around each other.
Etuwa's lingering touches and eye contact. How So'lek seemed to hover near her when she was close. It brought up sour feelings she supressed.
So'lek looked up to see a pout on Tamtey she herself didn't realize. âI am sure you can find someone else to raceâ he said teasingly. âI do not want to risk losing with a tsahik on my backâ
âI can help search, I could even get on the RDA channels, see if there's anythingâ she insisted. Eager to at least spend the day with him somehow.
âThere is no need. It will be quick. Teylan and Ri'nela are doing a sweep of the areas right now as well. Stay here and rest awhile with Rasi. You did not rest long enough last night it will mess with your sensesâ
Tamtey knew he was overly worried of her. Although sometimes it was sweet it mostly came off as a dismissal majority of the time. He always insisted she stayed at camp, if she wanted to fly she needed a partner, and other controlling details.
She only half smiled before leaving back to her quarters. Tamtey had awaited for the chance to feel carefree. Something she only experienced on flights with So'lek.
While stuck in her cell they were the memories she replayed on repeat. Especially the race before they met the wind traders. She wondered if they would experience something like that together ever again.
Static could be heard a short distance from her. Snapping her back to her current reality. âTamtey? Tamtey are you there?â she heard Ri'nelas voice come through. Not wanting to move she laid still. âTamteyâŠâ her voice sounded different making Tamtey sit up.
âIâm hereâ she replied as Ri'nela sighed with relief. âFinally. No one has heard from you in a while. We were worriedâ she said honestly but it still made Tamtey feel upset.
âI'm not a child. I am fine and safe I just⊠need some space right now so I dont think i'll be home tonightâ
âI didn't.. I donât think you are.. a childâ Ri'nelas voice was weak and faltering. Tamtey furrowed her brows as she tried to focus on her, she could hear Ri'nelas sharp breaths, something was wrong.
âRi'nela?â
âTamtey⊠Are you flushed? Do you have a slight fever?â
âFrom the sounds of it you must be the one fevered. Are you okay?â
âI'm⊠I'm in heat right now. I went into heat right in front of everyone. Rasi took me to a secluded camp for the time being⊠Away from them allâŠâ
She sprung upright as she touched her own forehead. Sure enough her entire body was flushed, beads of sweat dripped down her neck, as she clutched her abdomen that throbbed.
âIâŠI'm sorry Ri'nela truly that must've been embarrassing. I didn't mean to lash out at you earlier. That must've been awkwardâ Tamtey apologized profusely. âIt is fineâ she answered voice faltering.
âDid any of the guys⊠react?â Tamtey begrudgingly asked with concern. â⊠Not really⊠They sensed something was wrong but I left before anything. I feel so bad about it⊠I shouldn't be so naive about things like thisâŠâ Tamtey could sense the stress coming from Ri'nela.
âRi'nelaâŠâ Tamtey softly said. âI should know better. I am to be Tsahik, yet for something like this, I am cluelessâ Tamtey frowned hearing Riânela stressing.
âDo not punish yourself. I personally thought we couldn't with all the shots TAP gave us. I was so sure it'd affect us⊠I mean it's been awhile since we've been out of cryo. How can we just go into heat suddenly?â
Ri'nela was about to continue on, before realizing what exactly Tamtey said, âWe? Tamtey are you?âŠâ she awaited for her to answer. Tamtey clutched her chest nervously.
âI think⊠I think im in heat as wellâ
âI knew it. Rasi suggested we must be synced up since we've been together for so long. Where are you?â
ââŠI'm safe let's just say thatâ Tamtey said causing Ri'nela to sigh deeply. For the past few weeks Tamtey had been busy creating her own camp. Away from the rest of the Sarentu, So'lek especially, there was something building in her wanting solitude.
Now that her heat is here it's most likely what drove her to make such a space. âYou should come back here and ride it out with me and Rasiâ Ri'nela insisted. âIt'd be like old times in TAP⊠me and you sneaking away from everyone else. Our own sleepoverâ
Tamtey smiled mulling it over. âI'll be okay I swear. Where I am no one can get to meâ it was true her space was in a high floating mountain. On the borders of the Aranahe territory. With Telisi by the only cave entrance she knew she couldn't be surprised. No one was bound to come across her.
âJust tell everyone else I'll be home when it's over. Okay? I'd love to come back and spend it with you. I just don't want to risk exposing myself to anyoneâ
âLike me. In front of our entire clanâ Ri'nela groaned in humiliation. âI'm not sure how to show my face after such a sceneâ Tamtey covered her eyes. âI'm so sorry you went through that without me there. But I'm sure they will understandâ she tried to assure her.
ââŠTamteyâŠâ Ri'nela trailed on. âAre you sure you'll be fine? I know how you feel exactly. It does not feel wise for you to be aloneâ She asked once more and this time she hesitated. Tamtey felt vulnerable and weak at the moment. Hearing Ri'nela made a lump form in her throat.
âI will be okay. I don't feel like being near anyone at the moment. Take care until I return okay? Iâll keep my radio on incase of anything I swearâ
â⊠Okay. Let me know if you decide to come backâ Ri'nela insisted as they bid goodbye. Sitting with her legs in a small pool of water. They had found a great spot that was secluded. Ri'nela sat in deep thought after they finished talking.
Rasi returned from retrieving herbs. âWas that Tamtey?â She asked worried. Nodding she held her necklace radio. âShe is okay. Tamtey is in heat as well but she insists on being alone right nowâ Ri'nela explained.
âAlone? Where is she?â
Ri'nela shook her head âI am not sure. She wouldn't tell meâ Rasi began to pace back and forth. âYou need to tell So'lekâ she insisted worriedly.
âSo'lek? Don't tell me he went after herâ as soon as Ri'nela finished her sentence she questioned why she even said it. Of course he went after her. Trying his radio she called out to him.
So'lek was currently on Iley scanning around where he could. Diving into small caves and ravines. Relying on his senses to find her. The crackling of his radio distracted him.
ââlek? S'oââ Ri'nelas voice came through chopped and crackled. âRi'nela what is it?â He asked as it continued to buzz with static. ââamteyâineâ the mere mention of Tamteys name made his anxiety rise.
âRi'nela did you find Tamtey? Where is she?â He frantically asked as Iley flapped their wings to go faster. The radio let out a high pitched ring before he shut it off. The signal strength was weak and he didn't want to rush back to hear what Ri'nela had to say. Not if Tamtey was in danger.
Turning around he soared high above the sky. Looking for any signs of her. He felt something was wrong, maybe it was the RDA, and his biggest fear of losing her was imminent.
So'lek's head was on a swivel as he wondered which direction she may have went. Knowing her she could be anywhere. He debated heading to the Zeswa plains to search.
A familiar scent faintly spread in the air, making everything in his being pause, Iley perked up as they caught the scent as well. Closing his eyes to inhale what he could.
It was Tamtey that he instantly knew, but the scent was different, a scent so distinct he could smell the longing and sadness coming from her. It sent shivers down his body instinctively.
Tamtey was in heat, So'lek wouldn't be lying if he admitted he had a suspicion, considering the state Ri'nela was in. The thought of Tamtey in heat, vulnerable and alone, susceptible to other Na'vi spiked the fear in him.
The scent of her made the blood rush in his body, the urge to lose control, and give into instinct. So'lek had no right to just come and take her. But he couldn't deny the urge to be by her side.
Tamtey laid still with only the echoes of ikran and wildlife to fill the air. The lights of the plants slowly getting brighter. Her cheeks flushed as the feeling between her legs grew stronger.
In her hands she clutched one of So'leks old arm bracelets. The scent of him calmed her nerves as she inhaled. The flames in her abdomen fanning hotter. Thinking of his face smiling flashed through her mind.
It wasn't that long ago she had received it. Tamtey had just gotten back from a short flight. Sneaking away while everyone else was busy tending to their own errands, thinking no one would notice, she came back.
All until she found So'lek, cleaning, and priming his combative gear alone. He stood with his back turned as he wiped one of his pieces. His demeanor was calm and peaceful.
This was how Tamtey knew So'lek, she wondered what the rest of the world would think, seeing the dog tag warrior in such a state. Trying not to disturb him since he would probably get after her for sneaking away.
âYou are lateâ So'lek said with not even so much as a glance back. Feeling caught in her tracks Tamtey walked up to the area. âI just went for a quick ride with Telisi. No personal agenda or anythingâ she stated as he acknowledged with a grunt.
As she looked around she noticed the different momentos So'lek kept. Different weapons and gear it seems he was gifted. âWowâŠâ she trailed as she grabbed one to look at closer. Catching his attention he looked her way.
âWhat is it?â
âI didn't realise how much gear you actually haveâ Tamtey said with seriousness making So'lek chuckle. âWell it's just I thought you only decorated yourself with RDA dogtags. Maybe an extra pack for ammoâ she said as he continued to wipe his gear.
âI wear what worksâ So'lek simply said. âYou're Sarentu now. It wouldn't hurt to try out different stylesâ Tamtey said as she held an armband noticing it had more wear than the others.
âAll this gear I have was gifted to me. Since I do not wear them often I display what I can. To honor the hardwork put into themâ
Some of the styles she didn't recognize. Belonging to distant clans So'lek came across during his journey. She had only heard a few short stories from him and Ri'nela that made her curiosity run wild.
âNow this has to be from the Anurai, right?â She asked So'lek raising up the piece she held. A well made necklace with thanator claws. âYes it isâ he said a she stared at the detailing longer.
âIs it true the palulukan like music? You said that once to me beforeâ
âSome do, they are just like you and me, with their own personalities. The Anurai taught me how to communicate and bond with them. They honor the palulukan in all their ways but especially in their artâ
Tamtey was about to speak until she felt So'leks fingers over hers. He seemed surprised as well as their eyes met. Before realizing both were reaching for the necklace. A brief moment passed between them until they broke away from each other.
âI didn't mean toââ she said with slight panic as she passed it back to him. Earning a soft smile from him as he clasped it in his hands. âGreat work no? The Anurai are masters of art of all formsâ he said bringing her attention back to the intricacies of the necklace.
Brushing over it she did see the stitching and weaving, it was different from what she was taught, it was truly a beautiful piece. âDo not tell Nefika I said such a thingâ he teased playfully. Making Tamtey softly giggle at the comment.
So'lek placed the necklace down and brought over another bracelet. Made with different shells and thanator claws. Placing it in her hands for her to check out.
As she brushed over the bracelet So'lek stood watching her for a moment. âThat oneâ he said catching her attention. âYou can keep itâ he insisted as she shook her head. âWhat? I couldn't this was gifted to youâ she said trying to hand it over.
âAnd now I am gifting it to you. It will look nice on you. Besides I do not wear it as much as I should. It should be worn with prideâ
So'lek gently grabbed the bracelet and placed it on her wrist. Using both of his hands to show her how to wear it. He softly smiled before going back to his station. âThank you..â she trailed on as she admired it.
âIt's⊠amazing to see how far you've traveled. The people you've met. The things you've learnedâŠâ Tamtey voiced her inner thoughts out loud. Her hand hovering over the other pieces he had scattered. Tamtey would be lying if she said she wasn't slightly jealous.
Wondering of the different clans and their people, the exotic landscapes, all the animals. The people who befriended So'lek as well. What was he like in those days? Before war and tragedy scarred him.
âOne day I would like to bring you with meâ So'lek softly said as she glanced up at him. Earnest in his words âIf I live long I would like to travel back to see the other clans once more. To introduce and show you to all I met so farâ her heart skipped a beat at the thought.
âAlong with the rest of the Sarentu of courseâ So'lek added making her hopes falter quickly as they started. âThe rest of Pandora needs to see the Sarentu alive and well. I need to reconnect to remind myself of what I protectâ he said as he continued to tend to his gear.
âOne day in the near futureâ Tamtey said as she sighed. Glancing over to what So'lek was wiping her heart sunk even more. It was the prized Tipani shell armour he attained years before.
Tamtey had heard the stories of the woman he left behind, Rimu, a beautifully fierce Tipani warrior. If it wasn't for his quest they say she was to become his mate.
It was a thought she had in the back of her head, especially when she realised her feelings, would he eventually return to Rimu?
Glancing at him she noticed the soft gleam in his eyes as he stared at the armour. He had probably thought of her each time he wiped it.
Out of all his gear the Tipani gear was the least damaged. A clear sign of how he treasured it. Letting him have his moment she quietly exited the area.
Laying in the cave currently realizing what she was doing it made her eyes well up with tears. âPatheticâ she said out loud as she clutched the bracelet tighter. Taking another guilty inhale of So'leks scent.
Her body felt so unfamiliar, the only thing grounding her was his scent, but the guilt and shame made her a nervous wreck. So'lek wasn't even her mate and there wasn't anyway he would choose her.
Rimu was his chosen, that seemed clear to her, yet her and her body yearned for him dearly. She was so thankful to have made a separate camp. If she were to be with So'lek right now it'd burden him even more.
He had his hands full as a mentor, the expectations and demands the rest of her clan had on him, she knew she couldn't depend on him for everything. But right now that's all she wanted.
A sob escaped her mouth as she clutched her abdomen. âSo'lek..â she whispered as she flipped onto her side. Rubbing circles around her bud she felt the need to relieve herself. Clutching the armband into her nose at the same time.
After a few minutes her fingers didnât feel like they were enough. The spot that throbbed felt deep inside her, it made her tear up even more, like a scratch she couldn't itch. Not to mention the guilt of getting off to him.
If she didnât feel so weak she would chance the flight back to Rasi and Ri'nela. Maybe they'd have something to calm her urges. Instead she isolated her self and had no choice but to go through it alone.
Flipping onto her back she stared up at the roof of the cave regretting her decision. She shouldn't have been so rash. Instead she was still making the same childish mistakes.
Telisi suddenly awoke as she unfurled herself by the entrance. Seeing her crawling out quickly Tamtey got up to follow her. Faltering slightly she shifted lowly to the entrance.
Hearing another Ikran land near letting out a familiar shrill Tamtey froze. Telisi rushed out to greet them as she stood up. Her kuru felt almost electric as she held her breath.
âTamtey!â So'lek shouted into the cave as she gasped. Hearing his footsteps she panicked. âDon't come any closer!â She begged as she heard him stop.
âTamtey! Are you alright? Are you hurt?â
âWhaâ? No I'm not hurt, what are you doing here, and how did you find me?â
She said loudly peering at the entrance. So'lek stood still by the cave, hidden behind a wall, fully realizing what he just walked into. Tamteys scent was sweet and smooth in the air, he felt his face flush, and his head lighter.
âI have my ways. You did not answer me on the radioâ
âYour call didn't come through. You really shouldn't be hereâ Tamtey urged as her heart raced fast. â⊠I had to make sure you were okay. That you were not in dangerâ he repeated trying to convince himself.
Tamtey could feel the tears welling up in her eyes. âI am fine. I just⊠I didnât want you to see me like this..â she admitted making So'leks eyes widen.
So'lek knew he shouldn't have come, but the scent rolling off of Tamtey, it sent his instinct to protect off the charts. In his heart and mind he didn't want to let her face it alone.
âThere is no need to be ashamed. It is a natural thingâ
âHow can I not feel full of shame? When I'm still weak as ever. Even more so nowâ Tamtey poured out, her emotions felt overwhelming, everything did at the moment.
âYou are not weak, you never have been, this maybe new to you but this will passâ So'lek could hear a sob escape Tamteys mouth. Panicked he turned around the corner to face her.
Tamtey stood with her face in her hands. Noticing him she jolted up and stumbled back. So'lek had his hands raised up as he approached her.
âNo So'lek! You.. You can'tââ Wiping her tears he felt his heart seize. âIt's best you leave me aloneâ she tried to convince him. Taking a moment to pause he sighed.
âI know. I should not be here at all⊠I should be at camp right now patiently waiting for your return. As usualâ
So'lek trailed on as he and Tamteys eyes met. Her face was flushed with color, eyelashes wet with tears, he felt his shoulders release tension. Seeing her upclose relief flooded over him despite the current situation.
âThen why aren't you?⊠Don't tell meâŠâ Tamtey said as she continued to step back. Hand covering her mouth in shock. âMy scent. It attracted you to me?â She pieced it together. So'lek shook his head to refuse but her eyes welled up once more.
âThis is why I left alone and made this camp. So I wouldn't influence you and the rest. I failed and here you are lost in your sensesââ
âLost? Tamtey noââ So'lek tried to explain as she raised her hands in the air. âNo to what? You're not thinking clearly right now and it's my faultâ Tamtey spiraled in her mind.
âThis isn't what was supposed to happen. It wasn't meant to go this wayâ she muttered quickly in panic. âAll because of me and my mistakesââ
Tamtey curled her face back into her hands, So'lek felt helpless as she punished herself, he could feel it. In panic he grabbed her firmly by the shoulders.
âI am not lost in my senses Tamtey! You are right I should not be here but it is you Tamtey! I can not leave you to suffer alone!â he confessed outright catching them both by surprise.
She broke from her own grasp as she stared up at him in awe. Both of their scents calmed one another as they both steadily caught their breath.
âYou did not make any mistakes. It is I who did. I should have stayed at camp but instead IâŠâ he sighed deeply. âTamteyâŠâ he trailed on struggling to find the right words. Becoming lost in her eyes he took the moment in.
âYou always come for me. Risking yourself over and over⊠Why?â Tamtey asked fearfully as he softly smiled. Brushing her hair behind her ear. âBecause it is youâ he simply stated thinking it was sweet, until tears dropped from her eyes again, catching him off guard.
âYou are lost in your senses! I ruined youâ she cried out as he shook his head. âTamteyâ he said softly as she gripped his chest. âI must admit your scent is⊠strong but I still have a clear mind. I am not mindlessâ he insisted which was true.
âIt is hard to believe that when you are already spoken for. Yet you speak to me like thisâ
So'lek raised an eyebrow genuinely confused. âWhat do you mean I am spoken for? I have no mateâ He asked as she broke from his hold.
âRimu, I heard the stories, she is the one who has your heart. I can't be the one to ruin thatâ she answered with her back turned to him.
âRimu?â He said slightly amused by Tamteys accusation. Not realizing Tamtey knew of her. But seeing her distress his heart siezed. Her tail was dropped to the floor with ears pressed flat.
â⊠She is apart of my past yes. One of many who helped me on my journey. At one point I did want that with her.â So'lek explained as Tamtey began playing with her song cord anxiously. Her tail low to the ground as it swayed lightly.
He stepped forward closer to her. âBut we both knew we would hold each other back, from true happiness, I appreciate who and what she taught me. Nothing moreâ he said with full honesty.
His hand reached to gently clasp her hand. Making her stop anxiously fidgeting with the song cord. She didn't dare look at him just yet. Feeling his stare from behind.
âThere is only one who truly has my heart. One who stays in my mind. Who I look for each day I am alive. Someone I worry about more than I do for my own self. And it is not Rimuâ Tamtey felt her breath hitch as he looked through his eyelashes at her.
She hesitated to believe his word's for a moment. So'lek gathered his senses along with his courage. âI can not force her to choose me. I do not expect her to. I just want her safeâ he stated, holding eye contact, before he pulled away. Tamtey looked at him nervously.
So'lek needed to pull back before he fully broke his word. The scent of her desire made his mouth water. Depsite this he would leave and never speak of such feelings again.
âI shall collect some herbs to help with the⊠urges. I understand you must be uncomfortableâ
Tamtey could sense his intentions. Feeling her chance slipping away with each step. Clutching her chest she felt her heart squeeze tight. Watching him drifting away from her.
âMaâSo'lekâ she stated adamantly. So'lek turned at the sound of her voice. âI have chosen⊠Long agoâ She was determination embodied as So'lek turned to face her again. âIf he would have my heart as well?â
His eyes widened at the realization of her words. Pausing to fully understand her statement. Rushing to her side he pulled her in, gently holding the small of her back, caressing her nape with his fingertips. Before reaching in kissing Tamtey with desire.
Tamtey melted into his touch as she kissed him back. Feeling euphoric to know his heart was hers. Pulling away he rubbed the side of his face onto hers. Hearing her soft breath in his ear as he held her close. Both feeling fulfilled and utterly satisfied.
Slowly drifting to the ground So'lek pulled her onto his lap. As she wrapped her arms around his neck to hold him close. âMa'yawntuâŠâ So'lek breathlessly said as he rested his forehead on hers.
ââŠIf you die, I dieâ Tamtey said causing him to lean back and look at her. So'lek was taken aback, seeing the same determination in her eyes, he softly furrowed his eyebrows.
In silent agreement he closed his eyes, trying to shut out the memories of her capture, before reaching to kiss her once more. She held the hand that caressed her face.
âNgaw tĂŹkĂȘmo ti, ngaw tĂŹkem (if you die I die)â
Her breath hitched, the words she'd never thought he'd utter, brought tears to her eyes. âI⊠thought they killed you when the Mangkwan took me. Seeing you fall from that window. I awaited for my death by their hands⊠I wanted it. If it meant being with you again in Eywa. But it never cameâ
So'lek shushed her as her eyes watered. âI am here with you nowâ he assured her brushing her cheek. âI thought this day would never come. I expected to die with this love I have for you. Before I could be brave enough to tell youâ she poured out.
âDo not say such things. I would never let you die by their hands. Despite it all we are together here and nowâ he assured her. Tamtey closed her eyes and inhaled his scent once more to calm her nerves. So'lek pulled her closer before burying his face into her neck.
âI should have done this sooner. Before they stole you, the burning of home tree, I should have been more prepared butâŠâ he trailed on as she pulled back to look at him. âI⊠always thought you would not choose me as wellâ Soâlek explained. Tamtey frowned as she brushed over the scar by his eye.
âI chose you long ago I've said this. I'veâŠ. There's been no one else for me but youâ
âAnd I you⊠After your heat is over we will mate before Eywaâ So'lek said making her ears fold back and tail drop. Holding her breath she tried to not look so disappointed.
âWhat is itâ he asked already sensing her pouting. âAfter everything we've been through you're still going to make me wait?â She asked obviously upset as he broke into a smile.
âYou are already my mate. I would do it now but we are not near anywhere to connect with Eywa. I do not want to risk anyone else knowing how you smell right now. If we leave now it will happenâ
Still pouting Tamteys eyes dropped to his chest as she pulled back. So'lek simply smirked before pulling her closer. Hearing her gasp made him laugh.
âThere are other things we can do to secure our bond until thenâ he insisted as he grabbed his kuru from his back. With widened eyes she looked at him.
A simple nod from So'lek made her reach for hers. Nervous since she never connected with anyone directly.
âI want you to know my true intentions. There are only so many words I can use to describe. With this we will be bonded for life. Are you ready for this?â
âIt's all I ever wanted. To be bonded with you⊠I just⊠Never connected with someone like this. Just with Telisi and a few dire horses never another Na'vi. What will happen? Have you before?â
Tamtey fussed innocently, she was never taught it was something possible, nor courting rights. So'lek had to remind his self as he looked back at her.
âIt is my first time as well. This will signify and mark our bond as mates for life. Do not have fear unless you hold that fear of meâ
Seeing the determination flicker in her eyes Tamtey offered her kuru. âI am not afraid. I want you to know me and my heart as wellâ So'lek had settled from her reassurance.
In silence they held the ends of their kurus. The tendrils coiling, reaching out for one another instinctively, gazing into each others eyes. Joining their kurus they immediately latched onto one another.
Gasping against each other they felt each other's everything. Memories, emotions, flooding together rapidly at once. Tamtey arched her back as she felt everything So'lek was repressing until now. As was he clutching the small of her back for support.
âSo'lekâ Tamtey said breathlessly as her pupils dilated. So'lek looked up at her with the same dilated eyes mouth agape. It was beautifully overwhelming and euphoric as it rushed through them. Taking the wind out of them initially.
Eventually the connection felt smoother, softer, allowing them to catch their breath. So'lek buried his face into her chest, still taking in everything Tamtey had held back, it made him tear up. No words needed to be said in this moment.
Tamtey kissed the top of his head rubbing more of her scent on him. Both letting out low purrs of bliss. So'lek relished in it, Tamtey could sense it, the happiness he felt at her marking him. Any doubts or fears they had washed away with the connection.
Tamtey felt bothered by his armour still on, blocking him from fully touching her skin on skin, without a word he clasped it off, carefully as to not break the tsaheylu. Shifting their weight he motioned for her to lay with him.
Face to face they laid beside one another, searching through each others inner thoughts, memories, and emotions, hands clasped around their intertwined kuruâs.
So'lek could see everything Tamtey had experienced in her life. Faint memories of her life as a Sarentu before capture. Seeing her life at TAP brought immense sadness to him. How cold and isolated it was for all of them.
The unsettling feelings, scents, and constant human contact unnerved him. Unfamiliar knowledge of human technology and data he struggled to understand. Then the all consuming darkness Tamtey spoke of. Frozen in time away from the world.
Tamtey felt the rage, pain, and loss of So'leks past. The legendary battle of Ayram Alusing, the loss of his clan, his journey west. The deep loneliness he felt until coming across the Sarentu clan.
Right down to what he felt and experienced with Rimu. And he was right, it did not compare to what he and Tamtey had, in a way the jealousy she felt turned into gratitude. Thankful for Rimu and the Tipani clan for shaping Soâlek into who he is now. No matter what happened to them both it led to this moment.
They stayed like this for a long while, until they had exposed absolutely everything, no stone was left unturned. Breathless the two stared at one another, stuck in admiration, bringing their foreheads to touch once again. Both eager for the final step of mating before Eywa.
âOel ngati kameieâ So'lek said as he pressed himself closer to her. She clenched her eyes tightly as she inhaled. They had never felt so complete and at peace.
âOel ngati kameieâ
Iâd also like to note I havenât finished the âfrom the ashesâ DLC quite yet. But I feel Iâve seen all the spoilers and lots of gameplay to know enough. Iâll probably get more inspired once I get all the details I can.
But this idea of Tamtey going into heat unexpectedly had me inspired. Her feeling vulnerable which she hates. And Soâlek being the gentleman he is, kind and understanding, not forcing her to do anything. But still wanting to somehow ease her discomfort I loveee. Thereâs no way their relationship didnât grow closer after the DLC in my opinion lol
