While Snape being played by a talented (and very handsome) black man is not an excuse for racism.

But this casting will make certain aspects of the book read as overt racism because we are supposed to view this character as unattractive and ‘suspicious’ right off the bat.

I’ve read my fair share of Larry fanfic back in the day before I saw the light. I was a typical Larrie - depressed, lonely, and naive during the pandemic - for about 5 months I read everything I could about this conspiracy theory, fanfic included, and it’s unreal how many fanfic conventions have bled into what larries consider as real life stories. Thankfully for me, some medication, a return to the real world after quarantine and some socialization that didn’t involve my IPad, and I can’t even imagine how I believed all that non sense, and all that left of it for me is that I love Harry, which isn’t such a bad thing! But the effect of fanfic in keeping this all going is huge in my opinion

And this “receipt” is one of the most common tropes in Larry fanfic. Louis is loud and annoying and unable to control himself and only Harry can calm him. Whether it’s them as band mates or just in AU stories, even Niall, Liam and Zayn look to Harry to “control” Louis. Lots of dom/sub BDSM undertones, some more explicit then others.

This isn’t a “receipt”, it’s fan fiction put on top of real people lives and it’s so sad. Someday, someone will write a book about how Larry fanfic kept this stupid theory going long after it should have been shut down.

So pleased your time in Larrie Land didn't last long. I've seen multiple ex Larries who got on medication for depression or psychosis and gradually stopped believing in Larry. It really is a mental illness - a form of erotomania.
