        The October evening air was extraordinary; blissful, with an Autumn chill lightly nipping at exposed skin. It was particular days like this Barbie adored best -- ones where she could bundle up not too much; not too little, in a cozy manner with a scarf around her neck. To have such a favored evening on this specific day was utterly lucky -- yet perhaps it was nature's way of wishing her a happy birthday, rather than mere luck. She'd like to believe the latter option out of the two.
        Though having no one to celebrate with; nor gifts or cake awaiting her once arriving to a shadowy home, she continued on throughout the day, smile adorning her light features with joy gracing her mood. This was the anniversary of when she was brought into the world after all, and she was would not allow dismay sour it. Happiness hadn't wavered immensely as so, until her hazel optics settled on a local bakery.
        Exceptional cakes and pastries in the window, the sweets calling out to her in such a way that she might of felt her stomach rumbling. However, having a birthday cake today is what she truly desired. Just one cake was all she'd like. Special moments like these, she regretted moving out. If at home, her affectionate mother would of done all in her power to present something for the birthday girl. Instead, she'd receive nothing this year -- there was not even any extra cash to indulge in an self-bought gift. But it was expected. Exhaling; frown on her face, she merely gazed at the cake through the window. So much for avoiding any form of sadness today.
