Newsiestober Day 10 (Cinnamon) & Day 11 (Pumpkin Carving)
Snoddy smiled wide as he sat down with his apple-cinnamon tea, Halloween music playlist quietly playing in the background as Pie prepared some more paints and bowls. “Hope Jake will like what we’ve done! Sad that he got called into work.”
Pie Eater hummed, sipping on his cinnamon coffee before snuggling right next to him, kissing him on the cheek. “He will. And he loves his vet work. He’s okay.”
“I know.”, Snoddy whined, “Still wished he was here, Ed.”
With an arm around Snoddy’s waist, Pie asked: “Not enough for you, Elle?”
“Of course you are. I’m really glad you’re here.”
They shared a short, sweet kiss, before going back to the task at hand. “So! Pumpkin carving. I’ve never really done it much, can you show me?”
If he had told that to another person, he knew he’d heard something along the lines of ‘how could you never have done this?? What did you do with your life??’, but Pie had never been like that. No matter how ‘normal’ anything was, if Snoddy or Jake said they hadn’t tried something or didn’t know something he would just explain if he knew. He really liked that about him.
He showed him all about how to open and empty the pumpkins, what they could do with it after – Pie not only liked eating cakes but was also great at baking after all, mostly with Jake, and while Snoddy mostly just helped with decorating, he loved how they worked together on that later.
Some they didn’t carve anything in – Snoddy also found it was a bit more difficult than he thought to make the cuts right where he wanted, but he still liked how it turned out – and instead painted a cute little Halloween scene, like a black cat in front of a moon they hoped Jake would love. Half the time they – Snoddy, mostly – were distracted by singing along to the songs in the background or watching the other work. Sometimes kissing for a few minutes in between as well.
Snoddy was just about to put on more tea when the front door opened, followed by an excited squeal of Jake being picked up by Pie Eater and spun around. Even knowing this happened every time Pie Eater was home before any of them, he loved it.
Just as he’d put the teabags in, he ran out to kiss Jake who’d just been put on the floor again. “Welcome home! We finished already, do you want to see?”
Jake smiled, almost throwing his bag on the dresser by the entrance and pulling him to their dining table. “Of course I do! What did you think?”
He gasped as he saw their finished pumpkins, going to touch before abruptly stopping. “Wait, I shouldn’t touch right? Paint is still wet?”
“Yeah.”, Pie said fondly. “Just for looking right now. The cat is yours. El drew it.”
Snoddy almost fell over with the sudden armful of boyfriend he got, hugging him back just as tight and laughing at how excited he got.
Not long after they sat cuddling on the couch with more tea, Jake already having planned out all possibilities where they could put their new pumpkins.
“No work tomorrow?”
“Nope! But we had to help a cat really urgently today. But I’m glad I went.”
Pie hummed, squeezing his hand. “Then we’ll bake tomorrow.”
“Cake? Pies? Ohhhh Cookies!”
“Whatever you want.”
If there was one thing he knew, it was how much he loved them both.
Snoddy leaned over so he could look at Pie too. “Just tell me when so I can look at you two with heart eyes doing nothing but eat leftovers.”
“Of course sugar.”
Snoddy also knew that if he ever didn’t giggle like a lovesick teen at that pet name, something must be horribly wrong with him.
