paranoia as second skin, carpenter bees begin their drilling under a railing. uncertainty is a veil worn under graying skies, a foreshadowing in lungs, in thickened blood disease. stages unraveled, handle deep in deceit— earrings found in between driveway cracks after the snowmelt, the body in full rigor, upright on a bench. no premonitions for the unseen, the middle holds a fired gun, gunshot residue rinsed into a street puddle. scars linger like burned forests, like whispered threats.
