“Excuse me - you got suspended for a week?” Tommy asks, clearly confused. Claudia had taken Rory out for ice cream just after he had gotten suspended and nothing was making sense to him.

“Yeah, well: Mr. Lawson pointed a ruler at me and said there was an idiot at the end of it, and I asked which end. Mr. Lawson wasn’t very happy with that and suspended me - big whoop,” Rory replies, shrugging his shoulders as he plays with his hands, not even bothering to make eye-contact with Tommy. He sits on the living room sofa, his body pressing firmly against the cushions and says nothing because he knows his father isn’t very happy at the moment. .

Not knowing what to do, Tommy looks at Claudia in disbelief; his hands out as he tries to comprehend what he’s hearing. “You to took him for ice cream because of that?”

“Yes,” Claudia states like she’s made the most logical point on the planet. “Mr. Lawson has been giving him shit all year simply because he’s the youngest in his class.” She pushes a piece of her hair behind her ear and holds her head high, not caring about Tommy’s criticism. “I thought he deserved ice cream for sticking up for himself.”

Tommy’s mouth drops and he takes a seat. “So... he should have gone to the principal’s office and reported him. He shouldn’t have mouthed off like that.” Tommy’s voice is a little loud when he speaks, but Claudia is defiant and doesn’t seem even remotely bothered.

“He has complained to the principal, but nothing was done. I think it’s good that he asserted himself and decided not to take his shit,” Claudia says, nodding her head.

“I see what you’re saying - but he’s been suspended, Claudia.” Tommy tilts his head and frowns in Claudia’s direction.

“So you’d rather he’d be bullied?” She raises her eyebrow, walking over to him, arms crossed over her chest.

“N-no, I guess?” He places his hands over his face and tries to think. When he moves them, he looks at Rory and sighs. “I’m not going to punish you, you just have to promise not to do it, again.” He then picks his head up to look at Claudia. “And you have to promise not to reward him for his bad behavior.” He stares at both of them seriously, showing he means business.

“Promise,” both Claudia and Rory say at once, moving along to do what they were doing before Tommy called them for a family meeting.

More often than not, a lot of Jo’s job felt like a ridiculous cliche; the clientele was almost exactly what she’d be anticipating (and warned about), the pay was the largest thing holding her to it. More often than not, it all felt very contrite, and on the nights she had to wait to be escorted to her car, she was left with time to think about it. Feeling just slightly annoyed--or maybe more impatient--Jo leaned against the brick wall of the building as she waited for the rest of the girls to finish. After closing, everyone needed to be escorted, and since most of whatever she danced in could very easily be concealed--that was the point, after all--she was always the quickest to be ready, content on washing off the night once she got home. She always took the free minute to smoke.

With a cigarette perched between two fingertips, her other hand occupied by mostly-strangers on her Instagram feed, Jo scrolled mindlessly, double clicking when she felt it necessary, listening to the chatter of the rest of the crew inside through the door to the alleyway. Everyone found their own way home, usually, though a few carpooled; with the shift in weather, Jo had begun riding again, something she hadn’t done in a while. Still, her bike was parked in the lot, and everyone needed to get there together, should some overenthusiastic guy decide he wanted to take an after party elsewhere. 

She was so accustomed to the ruckus of the fellow dancers, constantly seeming to exist solely on Redbull and coffee, that she almost didn’t hear it at first. Lowering her phone, Jo slowly rose her head, a hesitant gaze surveying her surroundings. She couldn’t see anyone, which was both a positive and negative. But there was, indeed, shouting. 

And it wasn’t...right. 

Before she could turn on the flashlight to check anything, however, she reached into the duffel slung over her shoulder and carefully unzipped the pocket that held the mace she’d been “gifted” her first day by the rest of the girls, as part of some weird care package/welcome gift. She turned the screen of her phone off, instead taking it in her empty palm, her finger hovering over the power button, ready to prompt the SOS button if need be. And then--stupidly, obviously--she moved toward the sound.

She was met with an unexpected sight, though not one she was unaccustomed to; belligerent man, uninterested girl. But this girl wasn’t one of the Club’s; Jo had never seen her, and while she was obviously beautiful, she wasn’t the kind of beautiful that needs to dance for strange men to throw money at them. She cowered a bit under the man’s menacing stature, his body nearly pressing into her as she backed away. The girl had nearly been pinned to the wall. 

Jo kept a firm grip on the mace.

ginny’s lips pressed together at the quick snap of a reply she got from hermione. her eyes cast away from the brunette for a moment, not wanting herself to become upset too easily by the words of individuals as of late. everyone was still on edge because, though the war had ended, the recovery was just beginning. 

“you’ve never heard someone say the word uncheered before? i think it is a word...” the ginger retorted briefly, giving the other a small cheeky smile. her hands were now placed atop the fellow gryffindor’s shoulders.

This was a time when aesthetics didn’t matter, and neither did the format of your reply. It was a time when roleplaying was manageable on mobile, until Tumblr got more complicated, and it’s the first roleplay I think about when someone mentions staying up super late because you didn’t want the person you’re roleplaying with to go to sleep. Beautiful Mess RP was a high school, rivalry bio roleplay that just made everything so effortlessly fun. They weren’t strict with their rules, and each and every person in that group was hilarious. We had such great tasks, like gender bending, flash forwards, etc... Drama IC was great, popular face claims were being portrayed in such unique ways, and I hope to one day to experience a group like that again.
