Nineteen | My person
"How do you even be rockin' with buddy? Take it from her and I leave her with nothin" - P Power, Gunna ft. Drake
you were just about to head out the door for school when your phone buzzed with a text from your girlfriend.
my person 🤍 good morning girlfriend still can't believe i get to call you that anyways, let's walk to class tgthr tdy
us forever 🤍 hiii girlfriend i'm just now heading out so i'll see you when i get there?
my person 🤍 i'll be waiting for you at the entrance
us forever 🤍 can't wait to see you 🤍
you had just pulled into the school parking lot, closing your car door with a soft thud when you spotted her, nien, waiting by the entrance just like she promised.
“waiting for you was actually torturous,” she said dramatically. “i missed you.”
“we literally saw each other last night,” you snorted.
“still too long,” she replied, already pulling you into a hug, her lips brushing yours like she couldn’t help it.
being public like this, after months of hiding things with yunjin, felt weird, but not in a bad way. there was no second-guessing, no glancing around to see who might be watching. nien wasn’t scared of people knowing, she wasn’t embarrassed to be seen with you, she was proud, and that alone made everything feel more right than anything you'd had before.
you walked to class hand in hand, fingers laced naturally.
unfortunately, your first class was videography, which meant two familiar faces you weren’t thrilled to see, yunjin and chaewon. you hadn’t run into either of them since the whole situation blew up, not that you were complaining, but now, there was no avoiding it.
still, with nien beside you, nothing really affected you. even when you caught yunjin side-eyeing you from across the room.
but of course, yunjin just had to say something.
as soon as class ended and you were packing your things, you heard her voice behind you. “so i wasn’t wrong.”
you turned slowly, exhaling through your nose. “oh my fucking god,” you muttered.
“there really was something going on between you and nien,” yunjin said, arms crossed, voice sharp.
“are you serious right now? that’s the most hypocritical shit i’ve ever heard.” you blinked.
“i knew it—”
“you cheated on me,” you cut in. “i never laid a hand on nien while we were together. i was loyal the entire time, even when i knew you weren’t.”
nien stepped closer, her hand on your waist.
“you lied to me,” yunjin snapped.
“i didn’t lie about anything. we didn’t start anything until after i broke up with you. you think i’m like you? please.” your voice was rising, sharp with frustration. “honestly? i wish i had cheated. maybe then i wouldn't have wasted so much time feeling guilty about something you were already doing to me.”
“i can’t believe you’d do this to me…”
“i don’t even know why i liked you in the first place.” you just stared at her, looking at her in disbelief.
“let’s go,” nien said quietly, tugging you out of the building before you said anything else that might make you spiral.
you didn’t talk at first, just sat with her on the stairs outside, facing the parking lot, the breeze cooling you down.
“i’m sorry for going off. i know you told me not to let her get to me,” you sighed.
“no, it’s okay. you needed to say it. i would've done the same if you hadn’t stepped up first.” nien shook her head, brushing her thumb against your hand.
you looked over at her, and she offered a soft smile.
then, because she was nien, she added with a wink, “you’re hot when you’re mad. just saying.”
“oh, yeah?” you raised an eyebrow, finally breaking into a smile.
“mhm,” she nodded. “you can take your anger out on me next time. i wouldn’t complain.”
“you’re so stupid.” you nudged her with your shoulder.
“and you love it.”
you did. god, you really did.
later that day, after your separate classes, you were on your way to meet back up with nien like you’d planned. the sun was starting to dip, casting long shadows across the campus as you turned the corner near the quad, right where you were supposed to find her.
but instead of seeing her waiting casually, you were met with raised voices. your steps slowed when you spotted her, nien, facing off with none other than yunjin.
“how do my leftovers taste?”
nien didn’t even flinch. “mhmm. delicious. scrumptious even.” she tilted her head slightly, smirking.
“you bitch—” yunjin snapped, lunging toward her.
before she could get anywhere though, sakura stepped in from the side, quickly holding yunjin back.
you stopped in your tracks, watching the exchange unfold. yunjin struggled in sakura's hold, her face angry while nien stood her ground, unfazed.
"let go of me, sakura!" yunjin hissed, fighting against the hold.
"yunjin, calm down," sakura said firmly, her hands on yunjin’s shoulders, trying to steady her. "this isn't the time or place."
nien’s gaze shifted to you as you slowly walked toward the group, her lips curling into a knowing smirk. "you’re just in time," she said, her voice playful.
"what’s going on here?" you raised an eyebrow, a small smirk forming on your own lips.
yunjin’s eyes narrowed at you, her frustration evident. "what’s going on? oh, you’re asking me that? after everything?" she scoffed, still trying to break free from sakura’s hold. "this isn’t over, y/n. don’t think i’m done with you."
"i think you’ve said enough." you glanced over at nien, who was looking incredibly unfazed by the scene. "are you okay?"
nien nodded casually. "never been better." her eyes flicked back to yunjin, and she shot her a cheeky grin. "honestly, i’ve been waiting for this moment."
"don’t act like you’ve won anything, nien," yunjin spat, "this isn't over."
"wouldn’t dream of it," nien replied. "but you need to accept it, yunjin. she’s mine now."
yunjin’s jaw clenched as she finally stopped struggling, breathing heavily. sakura sighed, letting her go but keeping a watchful eye on her.
"let's just go," nien said to you, her voice softer now, turning away from the confrontation.
you gave one last look at yunjin, who was glaring at you, before following nien. "are you sure you’re okay?"
"yeah," nien said, glancing back at you with a smile that was almost too sweet. "that was light work."
the two of you walked off together, the lingering tension from earlier slowly fading as you got further from the scene.
“we should head back to mine,” you suggested casually.
“my car’s right here though,” nien raised an eyebrow.
“how would you feel about leaving it here overnight and we head back to school together tomorrow?” you smiled, a mischievous glint in your eyes.
“why are we going to yours all of a sudden?” nien slowed her pace, looking at you curiously.
you shrugged, trying to sound nonchalant. “because you look really hot when you're mad,” you said, teasing her. “and you also said i tasted... what was it? scrumptious even?”
“you heard that part?” her eyes widened slightly as she realized what you meant.
“yep,” you confirmed, grinning. “but i’m not mad.” you leaned in closer, lowering your voice playfully. “unless you want me to be.”
“i also feel the need to head back to yours now.” nien shot you a look, clearly trying not to smile.
you laughed, feeling her pull you along as she practically dragged you to your car. “you’re needy now, huh?”
“you threatened me with a good time, and now i’m just recuperating,” nien smirked, keeping her hold on your hand.
you laughed again, unlocking the car as you both climbed in, the door shutting behind you. as you started the engine, you glanced over at her, nien already reclined her seat slightly, watching you with that same smirk tugging at her lips.
“you know,” she said, voice low, “for someone who claimed they weren’t mad… you’re driving like you’ve got something to prove.”
“oh, i do.” you raised a brow.
she leaned in, brushing her fingers over your thigh. “then prove it.”
the rest of the drive passed in a blur of quiet glances and stolen touches.
as the door closed behind you, nien was already pressing you up against the wall.
“thanks for inviting me back to your,” she whispered.
“anytime, babe.” you responded, already wrapping your arms around her neck and pulling her closer.
