Sad is a three-letter world| Marlene

Marlene was tipsy and linked arm-in-arm with some bloke she wasn’t really listening to. Taking a swig from the bottle in her free hand, she took note of the man’s pause and filled the space with a giggle, which must have been what he wanted since he started talking again. It had been her idea to go to the park. He’d teased about being so adventurous in bed and she wanted to put him to the test. Pulled from her thoughts when her arm was tugged in a different direction, she muttered a “what?”
“There’s a bloke over there. Let’s just go this way.” Marlene looked toward where her company gestured and had to do a double-take, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. “Oh, hey I know him. You go,” glancing around, her eyes landed on a bench and she motioned to it while pulling her arm away, “Just go wait over there or something.” Then, she took a deep breath and approached Regulus. Compassion. Understanding. Empathy. “Hey Sage, what’s up?” She greeted, taking a seat next to him. “It’s…It’s a bad time for rain, huh?” This was a terrible idea. “Booze?” She offered, holding the bottle out to him and taking a closer look at his face as she did.
Regulus jumped, seeing Marlene. Son of a bitch, he thought he was far enough for the wizarding world that he wouldn’t run into anyone he knew. He didn’t want to run into anyone he knew. He wanted to just sit here and thinking? Was that what he was doing? He didn’t know. “ Rain?” He questioned softly, he was sure his voice would crack any louder. “ Well, aren’t you an angel.” He chuckled sadly taking the offered bottle taking a long swing from it. “ Got any smokes?” He asked.
