I donāt want to have a kid
Recently I told my childhood bff that I didnāt want to ever birth a child. Weāve been friends for like 23 years now, but lately our lifestyles have really changed. Not to say we canāt chill and be friends, but itās growing increasingly obvious to me that she doesnāt understand where Iām coming from.
She tells me,Ā āyou say that now, but youāll have kidsā. And Iām like. Bro. This isnāt a joke. This isnāt me being likeĀ āewww, babiesā sarcastically. I do not want to birth a child. I donāt want to raise a kid from the ages of infancy to pre-potty trained. Iām quite certain that Iāll do a pretty shitty job of it, and all the while give myself an unnecessary amount of stress and anxiety. Through nannying my nephews, Iāve learned that I cannot handle potty-training. It is EXTREMELY difficult for me. I also have no desire to have an infant depend on my body for food and nourishment (and if Iām able to breastfeed, I couldnāt bring myself to force formula). Iām too independent of a person to want that.
And after explaining these things to her sheās still giving me this look likeĀ āyou say this now, but later...ā And it is so GODDAMN INFURIATING. Like no. Iāve come to this decision after a LOT of thinking.Ā
Itās not like I said I didnāt want to ever have kids. I just donāt want to birth them, or care for extremely young ones. I DO however, want to foster and adopt. Several children if Iām able. I love kids, and I think pre-teen and teenage foster kids need more attention, love, and care than they get. I remember being a teenager and it sucked - but I didnāt have all that extra shit to deal with that foster teens have.
TLDR; I donāt want to birth a kid. No, I will NOT magically change my mind later so stop forcing your own ideals and opinions on me. Foster kids need loving, understanding parents, and I want to provide that.
