Consider, maybe, that a thirteen-year-old child never needs to experience starvation or fleeing for their life, and that an otherwise-sheltered 13yo child could ABSOLUTELY learn how to be empathetic and take the plight of the poor into account without traumatizing her to hell and back.

Oh gosh, okay, so it’s the next fic after my mute!Jaskier fic “And Yet, Here We Are”, where basically Yen isn’t able to save both Jaskier’s life and his voice, and Jaskier and Geralt spend a bunch of time trying to deal with their respective emotions about it, spend a year in Mahakam learning a sign language, and finally smooch.

The sequel, which is a slow process as I try to get a handle on Yen’s voice because it’s from her POV, is about Geralt and Jaskier running into Yen again and again, because Geralt DID still make a wish to save her life, he just also included Jaskier in it and didn’t hook up with her bc he wanted to make sure Jaskier was okay due to the, y’know, voice thing. But they’re hunting magical cures to magical losses too, so they keep running into Yen.

Jaskier decides she needs a friend and sets about worming his way under her armor to give her many many hugs, and drink wine, and she learns sign so they can bitch at/with each other without requiring mind reading or Geralt to translate.

So the meme of “list your four favorite fics that you’ve written” is going around, and I did it already once, but @teamfreehoodies tagged me and fuck it, I’ll tell you my four favorite unposted WIPs instead. :3

1. Slaveskier, aka Make a Refuge

This is my “sex slave Jaskier is rescued by warlord Geralt and spends a long time recovering and healing” fic. It was my primary writing focus before NWS stole my attention during nano, and I’m currently rereading all 35k of the current draft to re-familiarize myself with it, and guys... I love it. It’s got a bit of dead dove to it, but by god I love the whump and the h/c of it all. I cannot wait to make progress on this fic again, in large part because I can’t wait to post it for y’all. :3

2. Mags Attempts Porn, currently Untitled

...So yeah back in like. July? August? I started a pwp smut fic. It’s Geralt/Lambert(/Eskel sort of he’s not involved directly but he’s helping and watching) with D/s and bondage and what I’ve written so far is a lot hotter than I thought I was capable of writing, but I do have to finish it still. Just have to wait for the Mood to Strike Again.

3. AYHWA sequel, aka music like a curve of gold

So this is the sequel to my mute!Jaskier fic, and I am deeply looking forward to getting more work done on it so I can start posting, because it’s all about Yen getting enfolded into Geralt and Jaskier’s relationship, and it’s from Yen’s (and maybe some of Geralt’s) POV, and Yen is so delightful to write. Not easy, but delightful.

4. Star Trek AU Family Feels Ficlet, also Untitled

So this one is just a little ficlet set in a Star Trek AU that @jackironsides and I spitballed a few weeks back. I am not writing anything proper. He is writing bits of it that may or may not be finished and posted, but it’s a fun AU and this little ficlet is just a walk-and-talk through the various dynamics Jaskier has with the other characters by the end of the main story, so IDK if it will ever get posted, but I already love it. ^_^

IT’S DONE IT’S DONE IT’S DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Granted, there will 100% be more fics in this series, but I FINISHED THE FIRST CHUNK AND I AM SO HAPPY. This was the first fic I started in The Witcher fandom and I am just. So in love with it and everyone who’s commented.  I LOVE YOU ALL.

But the witcher had intrigued her, and had offered her anything in exchange for saving the bard’s life, so while she spent perhaps more time than was wise attempting to save his life and his voice so there could be no complaints about the quality of her work, even she had to eventually admit defeat.

She could save his life by twisting the magic, which was fresh enough to be just barely malleable and able for her to manipulate, but it still had to be in the spirit of whatever the djinn had done. Tried to silence the bard, it seemed, to keep him from making further wishes, so his life could be spared, but only at the cost of his silence.

It was, without a doubt, one of the greater hits her pride had taken since she’d ascended.

Me: ...fuck I need to re-read the whole thing don’t I.
