About the story told on Last Night at the Viper Room, that the members from Smegmas were tormenting River by posting copies of one of his early pinups all over town - yeah, it is true!
I came across this poster today, shared by a member of the band, with the following comment: “A beginning toward us poking fun at River's presence in town on our posters. Notice, this is the 'High School Edition Flyer'. IT also has a backwards message that says 'Riverasgueststar' if you turn it around. Fun times.”
Another poster was shared with the following: “This is the show that $%&^*'ed it all up. River saw this poster and had had ENOUGH and voodoo'ed us into the 1990s from that point forward. We just so happened to be playing a really bad cover of 'Stand by Me' as River and Keanu came walking through the door of the Hardback.”
Also, I came across this reply to a comment about Aleka’s Attic by a member of Smegmas: “That's too funny. River tried to fight me after the gig in front of coney island after carrying my gear out to the car for me as if he was my servant. Frog spit at his feet as he was shoving me around. Good drunken times. And THIS is a flyer for Attica's Uncle!”
Apparently it was nothing but having fun back in that time. Anyway, I found it interesting as I’ve came across it and decided to share here.
