I don’t even know where to begin - maybe with thank you.

Thank you, Dawn, for being you. For your quiet strength, your gentleness, your heart. Knowing that you’re growing new life - that you’re already a mother in the most beautiful, quiet way - leaves me in awe.

And you, little Smartie... Right now, you’re about the size of - well - a Smartie. Tiny, but already taking up so much space in our hearts. You’re still more of an idea than a person, but somehow you’ve already changed everything. And you have no idea how loved you already are.

It’s funny how it all started. We thought it was just a bad mousse au chocolat. Some dodgy dessert, maybe too long out of the fridge. But it turns out: it was you. The sweetest surprise we never saw coming.

I won’t pretend I’m not nervous. Sometimes I lie awake just thinking: 'Will I be good enough? Will I know what to do?'. But then I look at Dawn, and I remember - we’re in this together.

And I look forward to everything: the sleepless nights, the little socks, the first laugh, the chaos, the quiet moments. All of it. Because it’s with you both.

It still feels unreal sometimes. No bump yet. No heartbeat we’ve heard. No gender revealed. Just a line on a test… and a whole world quietly beginning.

So here’s my quiet promise, whispered early:

I’m here. I’ll be here. Through every step, every scan, every strange craving and late-night worry. With love, curiosity, and probably way too many questions.
