Summer Squash and Slipper Socks
Content- 1.2k words. Plot? It's just yardwork and making dinner fluffiness with Levi. That's it haha.
"Whew." You sigh, wiping a bit of sweat off your brow. It's mid afternoon and you just finished putting up the laundry to line dry. There is nothing wrong with the dryer, but this saves energy and always gives everything a fresh essence and less wrinkles.
You bring the empty laundry basket back into the garage in favor of the harvesting basket you bought last year. You know you won't want to come back outside if you don't do this now.
Pulling out the old blanket to lay down so you don't get too dirty, you get on hands and knees to start collecting from the backyard garden. Summer squash, carrots and peppers are still sprouting enough to get a few batches of each.
Last year was your first season and it didn't go too well, now however you are a pro and manage to still get some summer produce before the season changes.
After getting what you can in one go you run the basket under the hose to wash off some soil, giving it a good shake and leaving it on the back porch to dry.
Going into the kitchen you pour an ice cold glass of water and quench your thirst while looking out the window into the front yard.
You can't help but stare at Levi who has the lawn mower running. He's more than half way done and his shirt is now tied around his head to try to keep sweat from getting into his eyes.
You realize you should stop ogling his toned figure and get him some water, too.
"Thanks, love." He stops the mower to take the glass from you and it's gone in seconds. You are prepared with the pitcher and his second glass goes slower.
You swap the glass for a wet washcloth and go to put the glassware on the patio table.
Turning back around you can't keep your eyes off him while he wipes off.
He catches you staring and smiles. "What?"
You shrug. "Nothing."
"Like what you see?"
"It's a nice view." You never keep it a secret that you think he looks good.
"Come here." He gestures for you to come closer.
All of a sudden you don't trust him. "No." You step back, while he steps forward.
"You can't come out here, look at me like that, while looking like that." He eyes you up and down. You also have a hint of perspiration on your neck, and dirt on your pants. You've been working hard too.
"I'm in a tank top and cargo capris?" You don't understand what's so great about your outfit, especially compared to his.
"I noticed." He finds you irresistible.
"Levi." You warn. "Stop it."
"Brat, come here."
I have discovered Muk Luk slipper socks and will be wearing nothing else all winter if I can help it.
My Raynaud's thanks you, Muk Luk.
