Watchdogs are often employed by adventuring parties to watch over them and warn of approaching bandits and monsters without the concern of working out shifts. Their alarm calls are LOUD and have been proven to wake up 99.9% of sleepers. Watchdogs are strictly nocturnal however and prove nigh impossible to rouse during daylight hours. Keeping a watchdog awake during the day is not recommended.
