A couple sitting propped up in their large bed in their favorite pjs. They both came down with the same terrible cold, their noses bright red, streaming and full to the brim with sneezes. Used, balled-up tissues are scattered all around them like a halo, and they've sneezed so much today, that person A has given up on tissues altogether and is just giving themselves up to the sneezes, letting them fly uncovered for why bother anyway if both of them are sick already?
B is adamant that all sneezes should be covered, so when A's breath hitches helplessly, B reaches out a hand to catch A's desperate "Aaahh'TIISSHU!!!" in their hand, only to feel a sneeze blooming in their own nose. Without thinking, they hold the hand A has just sneezed into in front of their own nose and sneeze a spraying "Heh'PTTSSHIEW!!!" into it, so now their palm is shimmering wet with both their colds.

Perhaps a little bit inspired by my travels lately, I've been thinking about a flight attendant with a horrible, itchy, messy cold.
Personally I'm thinking about this in the so-called "golden age of flight" (late 1950s-1970s) because of the high standard of makeup and dress that flight attendants were subject to at that time, but many airlines still currently use that model so this also works perfectly well in the modern day!
Anyway, a flight attendant waking up the morning of a big flight (at least 6 hours long) with a completely blocked up nose and a sandpaper throat. They groan internally- whatever plague the man in first class on their last flight had has clearly infected them. Still, they get up and start to get ready- they won't get paid if they aren't on the flight, after all.
The pressure in their head shifts while they're in the shower, and a tickle grows in their nose. They sneeze frequently, and by the time they get out of the shower their nose is a dusty pink color. They're annoyed by this, but put makeup over it (trying to ignore how the brush irritates their nose and induces several more powerful sneezes). By the time they're dressed and ready to leave the house, they've managed to convince themselves that they'll be able to get through this flight just fine.
A few hours later, as the flight takes off and the change in pressure begins to give them a sinus headache and clogs their ears (symptoms they usually never have to deal with due to all their experience on airplanes), they begin to realize that this isn't going to be as easy as they thought. Still, they have a job to do, and they're going to do it to the best of their ability.
Flash forward to halfway through the flight, and they're not sure how much longer they can keep going. They've touched up their makeup multiple times, yet they can feel their nose becoming visibly chapped as it continues to run incessantly. Their sinus headache has reached almost unbearable levels, due in large part to the sheer number of sneezes they've been stifling and holding back. Finally, one of their coworkers tells them to go take a break, an order which they gratefully accept. They spend the next 10 minutes locked in one of the bathrooms, sneezing themselves silly (and pretending no one can hear them, even though they absolutely can). They then resolve to reapply their makeup, fix their hair and uniform (which are now decidedly askew) and muscle through the remainder of this flight.
Steve catching a cold from Eddies but being stubborn about admitting that he's caught his cold, because he's still worrying about his boyfriend.
This was fun to write. Love cold-ridden Steve.
Exactly one week ago, Eddie came down with a cold from hell.
He showed up at Steve’s house in the pouring rain, shivering and sneezing into his bandana like he was going to keel over any minute.
Steve pulled him inside and brought him to his bedroom where he still continues to take care of him. Thankfully, his parents haven’t been home so they won’t be wondering why there’s another man in their house that Steve has been secretly dating for months now.
The only problem is now Steve can feel a tickly feeling in his throat and a heaviness in his sinuses. He holds in a groan when he wakes up and gets out of bed to go to the bathroom, leaving his sleeping boyfriend alone. After he’s gone to the bathroom, he looks in the mirror at his appearance and notices that dark circles are starting to form under his eyes and the edges of his nose are turning pink even though he hasn’t touched his nose that much. Maybe he was rubbing it a bit more yesterday, but not that much.
Just then he feels a tickle starting to form in his sinuses, and he shoves his fist underneath his nose, trying to will the tickle away. Unfortunately, it’s no use and he snaps forward with a loud sneeze. “HEH-TIISHH!” He sniffles and rubs his nose to get rid of any lingering tickle and goes back to his bedroom where he finds Eddie just getting up.
“Bless you,” Eddie mumbles, rubbing his eyes. His voice is still horribly congested, but he sounds a little bit better than he did.
“Thanks,” Steve says. He sits down next to Eddie. “How are you feeling?”
Eddie shrugs. “Better, I guess? Still kinda shitty.”
“Hopefully you start getting better soon.”
“I hhhhope s-so. Hhh… Heh-ISSHIEW! ISSHIEW! ISSSHIEW!” He turns away and sneezes into his shoulder.
“Bless you. This poor nose of yours.” Steve coos, gently tapping Eddie on the tip of his nose.
“Steve, sthhhop. HEH-ISSHIEW! ISSHIEW! ISSSHIEW!” Eddie pants softly after the harsh sneezes.
“Shit, I’m sorry. Bless you.” Steve feels his own itch starting in the back of his nose. Eddie’s definitely going to catch on soon if he has a fit or something similar.
Before he can even stop it, his buildup is starting. “Heh… hhh…. HEH-TISSSH! TISSH! TISSSH! ISSSH!” He cups his hands over his face at the last second. Even then, he can still see some spray sneaking out from the small gaps in his fingers.
Eddie laughs softly. “Jesus, bless you, Stevie.” He turns to look at the other man. “Are you sure you’re not coming down with my cold?”
Steve sniffles and shakes his head. “Just a tickle.”
“Yeah, that could be cold-induced.”
“It’s not. And anyway, this is about you, not me.”
“Stevie…” Eddie says, raising an eyebrow.
“I’m fihhh… HEH-ISSSH! TISSSH! TISSH! ISSSSH! TISSHH!” The sneezes almost snap him in half with the force of them.
“Okay, you’ve caught my cold. Come on, lay down.”
Steve wipes his nose with the back of his hand. “N-No, I’m fine.”
“Steve. I’m not taking that shit. Lay down.”
“Fine…” Steve reluctantly does as his boyfriend says.

Pepper
Isaac Weasley knew that his roommates were going to be home late that night; Maeve had dinner plans with an old friend from school; Belladora was staying late at the Ministry to work on a case; Caelum was caught up in his calculations for his newest experimental potion. This left Isaac alone in the house that evening, so he thought he’d do something nice for everyone for when they returned and whip up some dinner.
He decided on making roasted vegetables and chicken. It was a simple enough meal, especially because he could easily use his wand to make the chicken slabs cook themselves, instead devoting his attention to perfectly seasoning the vegetables.
The first thing he added was salt, just a dash. He shouldn’t have to rely on salt to create the flavor, so he made sure not to put too much. The next thing he added was garlic. He cut the cloves in the palm of his hand with a small knife, dicing them up into tiny pieces. Then came the pepper. He reached for the pepper shaker, and as he tipped it over, the lid fell off, after clearly having not been screwed on properly by the last person to refill it. Isaac yelped in surprise but couldn’t do anything fast enough to stop it.
A large plume of black particles flew into the air as a half cup of pepper poured onto the mixed vegetables. Isaac gasped. He set the shaker down on the counter quickly and took a step back, sputtering and gasping for air.
These heavy breaths, though, set off an unfortunate reaction. A burning sensation bloomed in his throat and nose, then spread like a wildfire behind his eyes.
“Heh.. hhEHRSHUU!” He sneezed freely into the air in front of him before realizing that he did so, hardly noticing the mess on his glasses before rushing for the hand towel on the rack next to the sink. He grabbed it just as another sneeze overcame him.
“HASHHmph! AHmphshh!” He caught those two sneezes with the towel, though he wasn’t able to catch his glasses before they flew off of his face and onto the floor. Raising his head, he geared up for another sneeze.
“Ahh… heh.. Ah’ESCHmphh! Aheh..! AESHmph!! Ah! Oh, oh… ah…” He gasped for a bit, freckled nostrils flaring wildly, chest rising and falling with urgency, the tickle still present in his eyes. He waited for the last sneeze to come, towel perched inches from his face, but it just wouldn’t. He let the tears roll down his cheeks as his breath faltered. “Oh, please, please,” he muttered to himself, beginning to wave his hands impatiently in front of his face, towel still in his clutches.
Finally, it came.
“HRAESHmphh! AH’ESCHmph! AESHIUHmphh!”
He stumbled blindly forward, hardly registering that his foot just landed on something hard and distinctly not the floor.
“Heh, ehh.. EhSHUmphh!”
He pulled his head up again, taking as deep a breath as he could through his mouth. Panting, he looked at the ceiling, both begging some perhaps-nonexistent deity to give him some help, and rolling his eyes at the whole situation.
“AhHAESHmphh!”
He sneezed into the towel yet again. Somewhere in the distance he heard the front door open and shut, and could hear the sound of Belladora’s large boots on the wooden floor.
“HRSHmphh! ESCHUmph!”
“Isaac? Is that you?” Belladora called around the corner. “Bloody hell, what is that-”
“AHSHIUmphh!- Dora, please! I n-need your.. AESHmph!” He continued to muffle the explosions into the towel, which now needed to be rewashed before he’d ever let another person touch it.
“Isaac! Oh my-” She was interrupted by a fit at coughing as she walked into the kitchen. “What… happened?”
She didn’t expect an answer from Isaac, who seemed to be stuck in the tense wait for the next sneeze. Belladora casted a quick glance at what Isaac had clearly been doing before. There was chicken laying in a pan on the stove, cooking just as they were supposed to. Then on the counter next to the stove sat a tray of vegetables with a large pile of black powder. Only when Belladora saw the pepper could she identify that that was in fact what she was smelling. The next thing she saw was the lid to the pepper shaker screwed off and fallen into the vegetables as well. It became obvious what had happened.
“Ah’SCHMPH!”
“Okay, here, let’s go.” She stepped closer to Isaac as he doubled over with another sneeze. She put her hands on his shoulders and led him through the kitchen and into the living room, where she threw open a window and sat Isaac down on the sofa.
She looked at Isaac pull away from the towel to breath again. His face was wet from snot and tears, and his eyes were red and swollen. His nose and cheeks were a bright pink like she’d never seen them before.
“Your specks, where are they?” she asked, noticing he wasn’t wearing his glasses.
Isaac sniffled about five times before answering her. “Dunno. Last I remember I was wearing thehhh… heh… AHSHmph! Must’ve fallen off.”
Now that he was nearly a steady current of fresh air, he began to breathe easier. Belladora headed back to the kitchen to look for Isaac’s glasses, which she found on the floor, with one of the lenses shattered. She picked them up and pointed her wand at them.
“Reparo,” she muttered, and the glass shards flew back into place in the frame. Belladora brought them back out to Isaac.
“Guh… Thanks,” he moaned from behind the towel. He blew his nose into it with a face of disgust. Only then for the first time in minutes was he able to pull the towel away from his face. He grabbed his glasses and set them back on his face.
“So, I assume you used that much pepper on accident, yeah?” Belladora asked, slight grin tracing her lips.
“Oh, don’t laugh.” He held up a finger, another sneeze building up in his nose. “HESHUumphh!” He sniffled. “And yes, of course it was an accident. Normally pepper doesn’t get to me, but this was so much, and I snuffed it all in at once.”
“Huh. So the lid just came off?”
Isaac pushed his glasses up on his nose. “Guess so.”
Belladora’s smirk grew. “The great Isaac Weasley, dragon tamer, Auror for the Ministry, done in by a faulty lid?”
“Reckon I’m still a better Auror than you, though,” he quipped, rubbing his nose against the towel.
“Really? Well which one of us got chosen for the Arbutus case?”
I’ve noticed that when I sneeze unstifled (which is basically only when I’m by myself), I tend to sneeze through my mouth rather than my nose. How do I know that? Well, uh… I tend to spit, per se?
So for example, I’m photic. Most bright lights can make me sneeze, and the sun is the biggest bright light around, so naturally, I tend to sneeze when driving. But I don’t want to just spray my steering wheel or any shit like that, so I try to pull my coat flap or shirt over the lower half of my face. Or sometimes my hand if it’s too fast. And half the time I end up basically spitting on my hand. I’ve even gotten it on my glasses before. That was uh… interesting. Just imagine this happening and then the normal, germophobe part of me going “ew, that was so gross, oh my god.”
Even when I induce and control my sneezes more because I don’t want anyone hearing me… I tend to spit on myself in some way.

"Oh! Yes, yes, you're right. I swear I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached. She, uhm...h-hold on one moment..." No sooner had he retired his handkerchief to his sleeve than he found himself tugging it back out again, brow creased and eyes watering from the deep, buzzing itch that threatened to escalate into something actionable at any second. Glistering nostrils twitched and flared, handkerchief in open palms as he prepared for the oncoming paroxysm. The feeling teased and toyed with him, making his breath come in fluttering and unsteady gasps, before once again petering out to the dull itch that had nestled itself quite comfortably in his sinuses since he woke this morning.
