I understand and I realllly don’t like being called queer as well, it’s just that many people in the community are trying to reclaim that slur right now… I’m not very comfortable still, but it’s similar to how dark skinned folk reclaimed the n-word?
yeah there's still such a thing as common courtesy and not labeling people you don't know as a slur, and like I said to my friend, they're not calling themselves the n-word community. when you label an entire community as a slur, you're saying that everyone should be comfortable with it now, and that it has been reclaimed, no questions asked. but clearly there is some distaste, meaning it probably shouldn't be thrown around so liberally
