I think it's kinda insane how at the start of the series, they hyped up Dragon Slaying Magic (and Slayer Magic in general) to be this super rare and powerful magic type.
Soon they introduced more Dragon Slayers, even second gen Slayers like Cobra and Laxus. Cut to 100 YQ and there's a fuckass guild that's all Dragon Slayers (or Eaters, but like, that sounds really goofy). First gens got their magic directly from a dragon and second gens got a lacrima get implanted into them. Does this imply that Dragon Slaying Magic isn't exactly all that rare? Maybe being a first gen Dragon Slayer is, but I dunno.
It got weirder when they introduced God Slayers too. Like damn, wdym our first introduction to a God Slayer is the most annoying bitch to ever breathe. The next ones to be introduced aren't even given that much screen time either, and the other one even loses her powers in the end of it (technically). We barely know anything about it other than the fact that it's element based like Dragon Slaying Magic and instead of slaying dragons, it's slaying gods. How does one slay a god, anyways? What happened that time that they developed magic for to sole purpose to slay gods? Or is this magic an attempt of humans to even come close to having a god's power? So much to think about...
Ah, fuck and then there's Devil Slaying Magic. Silver. Silver, where did you find that. Where did you get it. It's element based too and if you use Molding Magic, it's easier to manage, as seen in Gray's case. And apparently there's a guy in 100 YQ who's a Fire Devil Slayer??? This implies more Devil Slayers, and yet we barely know anything about this type of magic and when from long ago it originated from. Silver what if I raised you from the dead for the second time to question you, huh. Ass.
