There was confusion, silence and yet acceptance. She had expected him to say something, but words had become actions instead. Goosebumps crept across her arms, one hand lifted to rub it down her forearm as she tried to make sense of the situation, because again, just like most of the time they spend together, it all felt so familiar; his lips pressed against hers being no exception to that. She had felt it before, they both had, and deep down she understood why he had done it, perhaps even glad he had dared to take that step.
❝ It’s --- okay. ❞ Her frown matched his own, a shaky breath taken before she cast her gaze back up, allowing it to melt with his. ❝ I --- ❞ she had to go to work, yes, leave him standing there like she did every morning after they would say their goodbyes, perhaps tell him she would call him later if he had time to spare. But now - she was frozen in her spot, lips parted but unable to form even the simplest words on her tongue. She wanted to ask him why, but that was obvious. Even she had felt the urge, but were they not completely different people now? Times were different as well, but was that not also something both could use to their advantage one way or another? Nothing was said as she lifted herself up on her toes, the palm of her hand resting against his chest as she pressed a swift kiss against the corner of his mouth, simply smiling when that same warmth again spread in her stomach. ❝ Don’t make it sound as if we’ll never see each other again --- ❞
