Honestly the swap of the bending brothers' approach to children in the same circumstances they were in is so fascinating to me.
So I've speculated that with Mako this could have something to do with his perception of himself. With his hostility towards Kai being a reflection of him going through some things, and his ability to empathise with Skoochy later showing that he's in a vetter place mentally.
So Bolin somehow getting hostile with Skoochy is so fascinating to me. If he's, like Mako, projecting his perception of himself onto these kids, it might reflect that he is seeing himself less charitably. This may have something to do with potential guilt after working with Kuvira, or with him becoming disillusioned with himself and his life.
Though I could also see Bolin's hostility towards Skoochy having something to do with his newly developed protectiveness of Mako, probably due to Mako almost dying in B4.
Anyway. This makes me SICK

Mako and Bolin met Skoochy a few years ago, when they were living on the street as well. Skoochy had just escaped from his second orphanage and vowed he'd never go back. He can usually be found hanging around Central Station, looking to pick the pockets of unsuspecting tourists.
