I’m curious what your hudson character analysis looks like- bc for me very few writers get the right balance of his brashness and his sensitivity. I think generally Connor gets characterized as more outwardly sensitive but I also think he’s more sure of himself in a way Hudson isn’t. I think they show tenderness and protection in different ways- like they’re both each others’ baby. Like Hudson wants to ensure that everyone’s nice to Connor but Connor wants to ensure that Hudson’s nice to himself- he’s always force-feeding him compliments.
the abrasive horny jock is suuch a persona 2 me. most of the time like when he’s asked serious questions he gives an answer that’s like oohhh ok u definitely pursued post-secondary education don’t worry hudson i see you. i think all the time about how he said he has a soft sensitive side as well.
like i do think he genuinely jokes cause he’s a freak i think the confidence and frequency of it tho is embellished. did basketball to fit in with the other boys and all that. has experience projecting confidence when his heart’s not really in it. and he is an actor…
if anything i think connor oscillates between being very self-assured and retreating into his nervous excluded boy roots whereas hudson remains consistently on the polite side of humble just to be safe. i really like how u put this: hudson ensures everyone’s nice to connor and connor ensures hudson’s nice to himself. like… yeah. that’s them. god they r so sweet they make me sick
