skekSo the Emperor - Skeksis Banquet Hall Chair, from the Jim Henson Company 70th Anniversary Auction on Julien's Auctions. Lot 92, sold for $1,920.

"The chair is comprised of carved rigid foam with a cast resin outer coating that features hand-painted detailing. The half-circular base most likely contains an internal metal armature to help maintain its balance. The chair is designed in the instantly recognizable Skeksis style known as "Garthic," which was created by skekEkt the Ornamentalist and features characteristics such as "emerging skeleton imagery" that make it so distinguishable. It contains ornate detailing throughout including carved patterns on the base and arms, winged blade protrusions as a headboard, and a pointed bone-shape extension at the top. Located in the center of the headboard is a bulb with three resin crystals - two clear and one purple.

The chair does not contain a seat to allow the puppeteers to control the puppet that appeared to be sitting in the seat. It does feature wear throughout consistent with heavy production usage. This wear includes, but is not limited to, scuffing and scratch marks, chipping, and outer coating peeling. Other specific wear includes a crack at the center of the half-circular base and clean breaks near the top of the arms of the chair just as it begins to turn into the headboard. These cracks occurred during production of the series to allow the puppeteers better access to the puppet, and then were repaired by production for filming and post-production purposes. 

The Skeksis are seen indulging in gluttonous feasts in the Banquet Hall in episode four, "The First Thing I Remember is Fire," and episode six, "By Gelfling Hand..."
