Y’ALL I FIGURED IT OUT
So I finally figured out why James Charles lost so many fucking followers within like 2 days. Yes, obviously, the scandal plays a huge role, but that’s doesn’t say why people didn’t simppy ignore him but took the effort to unsubscribe/unfollow. He’s one of the few people who kind of got famous representing something that needed to be represented. His motives clearly weren’t pure, but he strategised every single step. Which means he got more attention that creators who put genuine content on the internet/ creators who genuinely put content out there bc it’s their passion, not to get attention(clout?). Bc James was so visible in the media(memes and such) he gained followers. However, no one ever really liked him. He’s like those people who you just don’t have a good gut feeling about, but you have you reason to suspect that they’re a bad person. But as soon as you have a legitimate reason , you’ll go out of your way to remove them from your life. That’s basically what’s happening with James Charles. He tried representing something that needed representing, except his motives weren’t pure.
