Its Tender Tuesday! How do your characters introduce their significant others to people? Does the phrasing change at all situationally?
@raevenlywrites Thank you for the ask!
Corin/Sirinel is my only solid endgame pairing for Fates Above. While I’m at it, let’s put the Pic Crews in here since I don’t think I’ve ever posted them:
^ Sirinel. She’s 6′6 and significantly more terrifying but I can only do so much with a doll maker.Â
Anyway, I don’t think Sirinel is really the sort to use “boyfriend,” unless she’s teased into it? She very much would not enter a relationship with anyone unless they were a balanced pair on firmly equal ground, so she really likes the term “partner,” and sticks with it. Probably uses “betrothed,” as well when they’re engaged because it just sounds fancier.Â
Thinking about it, Corin would probably stick with “partner,” as well, because part of their relationship is the huge mutual respect they have for each other, and also that it’s a teensy bit of bragging rights? Corin was the family embarrassment, the non magical son who was useless to them and was going to get married off and sent away to whoever his parents could find who was richest. So “partner,” carries a lot more weight to it than just “girlfriend.”
Though I can totally see him introducing her as “my beloved,” just to tease her (in a nice way) haha. She’s spent most of her life considered the town freak, so endearments aren’t very common.Â
