So, Call of Duty. Awful. Propaganda. We all know this.
BUT!
I bet you DIDN'T know that the makers of CoD also made a video game called "Singularity."
A man named Nathaniel Renko gets stuck in a time-controlling surge, trapping him in both present day (2010) and 1955, where he sees a man caught in a fire and saves him.
That man goes on to take over the world, forcing Renko to go back even earlier and find the scientist who designed the device. As history warps around him, Renko - the player - is responsible for deciding its most moral course, based on several conflicting narratives and the timelines he sees.
It's worth a play, from what I've heard, but it's not strictly necessary to read...
Singularity 2: Return to Katorga-12, a fan-sequel written by my wonderful girlfriend, @top1jesterquestfangirl
It's really good. It elevates the story a notch further, taking time to critically examine what Singularity expects you to take at face value and elaborating on the cost of every decision.
