10 years ago I sang "Lux Aurumque" in the first virtual choir by Eric Whitacre with 184 fellow singers.
Now, many virtual choirs later, I joined 17,571 other voices to "Sing Gently."
At a time when human connection is so desperately needed, this is an absolute balm to my soul. To be witness to and a part of the growth of these choirs is a genuine pleasure and honor. Voices from all over the world together as one like this is not only a technical achievement like no other, but also a masterfully beautiful expression of our human connection and need for one another.
Eric's music is a conduit for such deep love and humanity. I hope you'll take a listen and be encouraged by it.

Kintsugi, the art of mending pottery or ceramics, and the idea is that if something important to you or special to you has dropped and broken — it’s in all of these shards and then you glue it back together. But you don't just glue it, you fill the epoxy with gold dust and what you do then is you highlight the scars. And in doing so, you don't try to erase its history, you make it part of its history. — Eric Whitacre

John Lewis and one world house
John Lewis and one world house
So much can and should be said following the death of Congressman John Lewis, but every attempt to pay tribute to him here on Views from the Edge fails to reach the high bar of tribute and thanksgiving to which he is entitled. Into this wordless void came a message sharing Eric Whitacre’s virtual global choir singing “Sing Gently” – the sound of hope and gentleness that sings what words cannot…
