he had to play this carefully --- a thought that perhaps hadn’t crossed aaron's mind tonight on the path that led him to what she had called "the seediest bar in all of norbury" (he personally found that assessment a little harsh, he figured it was just the bar with the most character, but that was neither here nor there). he scanned the bar and, thankfully, saw only one woman that fit the bare minimum description he'd received moments before walking through the front door. it wasn't his usual style, to just follow along a dotted line of texted instructions and trust the fate of his friday night in someone else's hands, but, ever the opportunist (just how his father had raised him), he wasn't going to let such a proposition as the one he'd received out of the blue slip away. so, with a tomcat grin, he approached her, and hoped for the best. "i think i'm supposed to be meeting you," he said, leaning up against the bar, "and if that's the case, you don't disappoint. i'm glad i came and found out." had he been caught in a similar conversation just hours before at another bar in what passed for downtown norbury? sure, but this felt different. she'd made it a game, a little cat and mouse, and he couldn't help but pursue it. he was nothing if not competitive when it came to this kind of thing. and in this moment, he was thankful for whoever it was that decided to write his number on the bathroom wall. which reminded him. he took pause for a moment, and smirked. "i am curious though: do you make a habit out of texting numbers you find on bathroom walls? or was it just something about mine?" | @sincebrooklyns
