RQOTD: Pick any OC(s) and tell me how they've changed over the past year for the better or worse!
This was challenging, because I didn't quite know how to approach this question at first (and sometimes my brain takes things too literal and I end up being stuck on a particular word that's making my mind run in circles). Now, I don't have much story published yet, and don't want to put out spoilers, so I decided I'll take a closer look at how I have changed some characters in terms of what role they will play in the setting as a whole, as I myself got a better understanding of where I want to go and what is needed or rather said, not needed.
So, whithout further ado:
He got a significant change not only in appearance, but also in terms of personality and background story, as well as repurposing of his role in the environment of the story to a point where I ended up with a whole new character, so I also changed his name to void my mind of any associations with what he originally was. (which wasn't much to begin with anyway, tbh)
Actually one of my oldest characters, but being "born" into a completely different environment, the more my story took shape, the more she became useless as a member of the Barnabas family and was doomed to make brief appearances on the side lines. Even though she was never intened to be more than a support character, I just wasn't satisfied to have such very little use for her, so she got assigned to a new clan (thus also the slight change in appearance), where she will have a more notable role as a support character.
(I am considering a name change as well, partly for to the same reasons as I did with Okita, but also due to the overall new environment. And also it kind of never fit her personality that well either, so idk...)
Characters that originally started out as part of the Elders, but turned out to be entirely redundant as such, so I repurposed them.
Of course, from a charactr's perspective this might be seen as a downgrade, because Elders are practically omnipotent, god-like beings, so having to give that up in exchange for a more meaningful role in their universe probably sucks for them, because who wants to be a fleeting existence in a seemingly endless multiverse, when you could be the embodiment of this same multiverse and be eternal?
