Truly just a perfect crossover vignette pwp. It captures just enough of Krycek and Methos's personalities, draws an absolutely clear picture, leaves them both satisfied and you wanting more.
Do you ever randomly remember a character from an old movie/tv-series/book you used to really like when you were, like, nine? A character you didn't really think about all these years, to the point where you forgot what their name even was? And then you remember, read a wiki page about them, then look at the stuff you write right now and go: "Ohhh... That certainly explains a few things".
Because this was me today with Methos from ye olde Highlander TV series. Damn, he was cool.
And yeah, I guess there's a reason why my fanfics (especially the unpublished ones) are so ridiculously dramatic and sappy. And you, mister "Because the alternative is unthinkable", are definitely a part of the problem!
(actually, nevermind, there is no problem, I enjoy being a sentimental mess, and I genuinely believe those late 90s/early 00s tv shows did me way more good than harm)

Happy Methos Sunday!!!!
He still loves bags like when he was a kitten :)
So I'm pretty casual as a shipper. Usually when I ship something, I enjoy both gen and shippy interpretations equally. I like Blorbo and Scrungus together, I like how they play off each other, and what I like about them is going to come through in both romantic and platonic interpretations. Yay for me, twice as much fun. I'm also predisposed to default to platonic interpretations in a lot of cases, because ace IRL.
So the fact that I *ship* ship Kronos and Methos, that I look at them and go "oh there is no way that is platonic" is noteworthy.
Usually when I'm doing that it's because the canon has palpable and often deliberate subtext (cf Mysterious Lotus Casebook).
But Kronos and Methos, I take one look at Kronos and I'm like "oh yeah, that's the crazy ex and there's weird noncon whumpy stuff mixed up with those millenia of mind games all right".
Completely unsurprising that the ship I *ship* ship has built in whump and isn't bosom friends or something nice like that.
Methos is just so whumpable! I course I ship him with the guy who wants to whump him >:)
The theme song by Queen asks "Who wants to live forever?", and it's a rhetorical question, the answer is supposed to be a meditation on how outliving your girlfriend sucks but you should make the best of it anyway.
And then Methos comes along and answers that question with "Me. I do. Yes, hello, I want to live forever."
