Sprinkles has been a part of Kardynkyr's hoard for a little while now, but Kard and Aki only really just met at the mating event. When they were left alone together, neither felt like they could relate to the other based on first impressions.
Kardynkyr broke the ice by asking what kind of things Aki likes to have in their hoard, and when the topic of cats came up, they were more than pleased to go retrieve the big cat from their floor to show their assigned mate. Aki was shocked but absolutely loves Sprinkles.
Note, I do not endorse the private ownership of big cats in real life. Some of my characters might have rather exotic pets, like Kard and Sprinkles or Diederich and Kaffee, but this is an urban fantasy story, and I do think that owning wild cats as pets should remain a fantasy. Not to mention, at least in terms of danger to the owners, dragons are stronger than panthers.
