âCompetitivenessâ is often seen as a good thing, a trait to be admired. It can, in a couple of ways, be detrimental to your success. Firstly, if youâre competing with people on your own team who are all working towards the same goal then odds are that youâre creating interference that is getting in the way of achieving the collective potential. Secondly, if youâre focusing on the competitor, instead of what you are trying to achieve, then youâre taking your focus off the prize and potentially heading in a direction that is taking you away from where you need to be. One simple antidote to this is âcuriosityâ. Instead of looking at your colleague or competitor and asking, âHow can I be better than him or her?â, ask instead, âWhat can I learn from what they are doing that I could apply to myself in order to grow and improve?â Also ask, âHow could we work together to achieve goals that will benefit both of us?â Focus on your dream and not the competitor. #leadership #growth #change #collaboration #perspective #behaviours #courage #curiosity #complexity #sydney #sydneyceo #sydneycbd #sydneylife #sydneydirector #executive #executivesuite #executiveofficer #executivecoaching #executivedirector #ceolife #ceo #australianceo #australianexecutive #campbellleadershipsolutions #simonsinekquote
