Book Review: It's Not Yet Dark by Simon Fitzmaurice
"Itâs arrogance and a burden to tell someone whoâs sick that itâs their fault if itâs not.â Behind every disease is a person, and this book does a remarkable job of emphasizing that. Of reminding us all that sometimes people fall ill, severely so, and that they may suffer from pain we may not always be able to detect or perceive. It asks us to contemplate the reality of there being some things out there that are outside the scope of medicine, or reason, or willpower that would enable us to change the outcome of something debilitating we, or someone we love, may face in the future. Like cancer. Like ALS. Like any number of things. What Fitzmaurice tells us is that sometimes there is no escape from this. There is no surviving. There is only living and dying. Sometimes, all we have in the interim is a choice. We can let our suffering crush us until we die, or, taking one little footstep after another, we can bear the weight and live. The point is we can choose how to do it--learning, listening, loving, whatever--for as much time as we're given. "Death is not in us, despite what the scientists say. Yet death is as real as our reflection. As present. A presence that we must ponder, must endure. Until we die. And become that which we are not."

While we're on the subject of Evanna's love life, do you know if she's still dating that musician, AnDel? Or is she now single again? Or has she stayed mum on the topic?
Hello. She hasnât spoken about it publicly, exactly⊠though around the end of 2017, they deleted all of their posts that were pics of them together from each otherâs social media accounts. And Evanna was pretty candid on her Instagram about a rough patch in her life - the loss of relationships - without getting into specifics. Simon Fitzmaurice passed away around the same time, so it was fairly hard for her. :( I canât speak for her, so I feel I canât really say anything else.
Regards,
J.D.
