No Comment 37: MANOMAN
Glen is barely a man. In a desperate attempt to tap into his masculinity he attends a primal scream therapy session, but even surrounded by wailing men he cannot make a sound. When another member of the class pushes Glen too far he finally lets something out- a miniature version of himself which does whatever it wants, regardless of the consequences.
Releasing masculinity's unapologetically absurd inner beast
London-based director Simon Cartwright talks about his darkly comic short, which uses a mixture of rod marionette puppets.and animation to tell the story of Glen. In that way the audience could see the attraction of it, rather than simply being repulsed. The intention was to make a film that is itself masculine in every way.

Inktober 2015
The Ugly
I have, since taking this photo, FINALLY erased the stupid line down the middle. Couldn’t have been bothered to do it before photos for some reason (lazy).Â
If you have the opportunity to see The Ugly, do it. Finally posting all these inktober pieces is making me realize just how drawn to Australian and New Zealand horror I am - in two years I chose four movies from one of these countries. That seems disproportionate, especially considering how few Korean and Japanese movies have made my list. What I’m trying to say is they’re clearly doing something right. And The Ugly was the catalyst of my personal exploration; It’s a true gem and has been a favorite of mine for years.Â
“Did you see them?” “What have you seen?”
