Simeis 147, aka Spaghetti Nebula | Dark Sky Alqueva [2020]
"A deep sky wide field view, captured in H-alpha and visible light (RGB), shows the extremely faint and large supernova remnant Simeis 147 or Sharpless 2-240. Also known as Spaghetti Nebula, it is located near the border between the constellations of Taurus and Auriga—at an estimated distance of 3,000 light-years away from Earth. Spanning for more than 3degrees across the sky, the reddish emission bubble from ionized hydrogen features a debris cloud with a detailed complex of intricate filaments with about 150 light-years distance from edge to edge. The stellar explosion of this supernova may [have] occurred 40,000 years ago, leaving behind a spinning neutron star—known as pulsar PSR J0538+2817." miguelclaro.com
