The Night Owl Diaries Episode 1 ✨🦉🌃 Burgers & Butterflies
When Harmony's co-worker Trevor confided in her that he was recently kicked out of his apartment and looking for a roommate, she eagerly offered him a place to crash. Although she's not looking for any serious commitments right now, she sure is grateful to have some help with the bills.
Harmony enjoys a quick bite to eat from the burger stand that sets up shop outside the liquor store where her and Trevor work while her new roommate heads out to retrieve the rest of his belongings.
Even though funds are tight right now, these friends are determined to have a good weekend. While Trevor washes up, Harmony makes the two of them some drinks with the alcohol she "accidentally" swiped from work. Trevor didn't have much to bring with him, so it only took a few drinks before he was finished unpacking and the two were goofing off.
Harmony isn't sure if it's the gin talking or not, but all of the sudden she can't help but notice the butterflies she feels anytime Trevor comes near. "Has he always been this cute?!"
Even though she's a bit tipsy, she decides it's best to put some distance between them for now and suggests that Trevor plays some music on his guitar for them.
Harmony eventually decides to call it a night and heads to bed. Sometimes even night owls have to rest, too.
Before Trevor goes to sleep, he decides to make a good impression and clean up a bit. There's not a lot he can afford to do to show his appreciation to Harmony for letting him rent a room on such short notice right now, but the dirty laundry seems like a good place to start. "She shouldn't have to haul loads to some sketchy laundromat every week. Once I get back on my feet, I'm getting her a washing machine."

The Night Owl Diaries Episode 2 ✨🦉🌃 Shoreline Shenanigans
If Harmony can count on one thing, it's the morning sun waking her hours before she planned on getting out of bed. She didn't realize it the night before, but at some point she lost track of how many drinks she had and woke up with a mild hangover. Thankfully there was some juice in the fridge to aid in her recovery.
Once she regains her bearings, Harmony slowly takes her time getting ready for the day. Halfway back to her bedroom, she pauses. Sitting on the chair outside her makeshift beaded doorway is a neat stack of folded clothes—clothes that had definitely been dirty when she went to sleep last night.
"Trevor, then. Not bad for day one." Harmony finishes cleaning up from last night without letting herself think too hard about it. Outside with the trash, the thick summer heat gives her an idea.
"The beach. Perfect." Harmony analyzes her dresser before pulling out a faded beach towel, a paperback she's already read twice, and a pack of cigarettes from the carton she keeps stashed away. Arms full, she makes her way to Trevor's already open door. "Good, you're up. Sort of. Beach day! Here's your stuff. Towel, something to read, smokes. We're leaving in twenty!" Trevor fumbles to catch the items as she hands them over, still half-asleep. "Damn, okay. Beach it is." A small smile crosses his face. "You didn't have to do all this."
Harmony heads back to her room to grab her own stuff while Trevor gets ready. By the time they meet at the front door, they're both already sweating. Trevor looks at the brutal sun, then at Harmony, then pulls out his phone to call a taxi. Not exactly in the budget, but who cares? This is the most normal he's felt in months.
The moment they step out of the taxi, Harmony takes off running. "Too hot!" she yells, heading straight for the shore. Trevor follows and tries to keep up, laughing despite the heat.
The duo spot a blue frisbee abandoned near the water and give it a shot. Harmony's aim is terrible. The first throw smacks Trevor in the nose. The second catches his ear. By the third hit, they're both laughing too hard to keep playing.
A flash of green catches Harmony's eye. There's a parrot sitting in the sand at a distance. She approaches cautiously, half expecting it to bolt, but the bird just blinks at her. "You've got to be kidding me," she says, grinning as it waddles right up to her outstretched hand. The parrot hangs around for a minute before losing interest and flying away. Harmony watches it go, then makes her way back to their setup.
Harmony settles next to Trevor in the sand and starts sculpting. What begins as two lumps slowly takes shape into rough figures sitting side by side. She uses sticks for arms and smooth stones for faces. "Not bad, for garbage." she mutters, patting the taller one. "That's you, by the way." "And that's me." She nods at the smaller figure. Trevor glances up from his book, amused.
The heat finally wins. They head into the cool sea, and the water feels incredible. Harmony splashes first and Trevor doesn't hesitate to splash back harder. Above them, the sun begins to sink, streaking the sky with color.
The walk back from the beach is a slow one, and the cool evening air finally provides some relief from the relentless summer heat.
Trevor can’t stop talking about the book Harmony gave him, dissecting the plot with an enthusiasm that makes her realize maybe they have more in common than she thought they would.
After the trek back from the pier, the day had finally caught up with them. While Trevor kicked off his shoes and settled in, Harmony headed straight for the bathroom. The long walk home had left her muscles aching, and nothing sounded better than a nice bath.
As the tub begin to run, and she watched the steam begin to fill the small room, Harmony looked herself in the mirror and exhaled a long, shaky breath.
"Okay, that was actually... really nice," she said, reassuring herself. "He’s a great coworker, and honestly, having him around the house is going to be a total win. He’s easy to talk to, he’s clean, and I won’t have to worry about living alone in this neighborhood anymore. It’s the perfect roommate setup."
She began to unlace her shoes, but her movements begin to slow as a specific memory from just the night before ago drifted into her mind... one involving a bit too much to drink and a very sudden, very inconvenient flutter in her stomach when Trevor had laughed a little too hard at one of her jokes.
"Except for the part where I apparently catch feelings when I’m drunk..." "Seriously, Harmony, get it together. He’s a roommate. You don't do the 'feelings' thing, and you definitely don't do boyfriends. Just keep it friendly! I am not ruining a good housing situation over a stupid, tiny crush."
Stepping back into the living room, Harmony found Trevor already settled on the weathered sofa, the flickering glow of the television barely cutting through the dark living room. She took a seat beside him, carefully maintaining a "roommate-only" distance as they flipped through the bizarre offerings of the free antenna network. They eventually landed on a string of grainy, over-the-top reruns that featured everything from nonsensical plot twists to hilariously dated special effects. Every time a character broke into an unexpected dance or a clearly visible puppet appeared on screen, Harmony leaned forward in genuine shock, unable to look away from the absurdity. Trevor’s dry commentary only made the experience better, turning the strange shows into a shared comedy routine. For a few hours, the internal panic about her "drunk feelings" from the night before faded into the background, replaced by easy laughter and the comforting hum of the TV. It was exactly the kind of low-pressure, friendly ending to the day she needed to prove to herself that they could really make this living situation work.
