Part 9
SimĂłn's POV
I wrap my arms tightly around Ămbar, enjoying the feeling, one more time before letting her go. I get up and help her do the same, guiding her downstairs.
She follows me without saying a word. She stops at the bottom of the stairs and passes her hands on her face, cleaning any traces of tears. Then moving to her hair, which is basically a waterfall of blonde curls.
"How do I look?" She asks, putting her neutral mask back on. I exam her closely for the first time today. I mean, I kept looking at her the whole movie but I couldnât really have the view I have now.
Standing there in front of me, with no make up, as natural as she can be, with her pink "Miss Perfection" hoodie, she looked younger, more chilled, without having to keep the perfect posture. I couldn't help but chuckle.
She crosses her arms and raises her eyebrows. "Am I that awful?"
I shake my head. "Ămbar, you can never be awful. That word wasn't made for you." I admit without thinking, making her bite her lips, avoiding a smile. I scratch the back of my head.
"Well, what I mean is that... " I cough, trying to control the situation. "You look very well but you don't have to worry about that."
She takes the final step, and is now facing me. Analyzing her face, I notice how her blue eyes pop against her paler skin. Her cheeks have a natural pink, something no blush can mimic. Her nose is basically of the same color. But what catches my attention even more, are the little freckles around that area. I mean, I knew she has freckles, she tries hard to conceive them but they are still there, however, only now am I really appreciating just how much beauty they add to her, specially now that I can see all the little brows dots.
Okay, loving, liking or hating her, there is no denying she is beautiful. So there is no problem here.
"What? Is there something on my face. What are you looking at?"
"You freckles. I never noticed you had so many..."
She covers her nose and cheeks with her hands. "I know. They are horrible... Ughhh... I should have put some make up..." She mumbles, sitting.
I mimic her.
"Horrible? Not a chance. I love them... uhhh... They make you cute... ughh... I mean they are cute..."
"You really think that? My godmother always said that freckles were a mistake of nature. That flowers with brown dots weren't beautiful."
"Well, we know you godmother isn't exactly the example you should follow. But, Ămbar, you are such a confident girl and you should be. Be proud of everything you have, from your blue eyes to your freckles! Plus, it's true not everyone has it, but it only makes you more unique!"
Ămbar finally allows a smile to light up her face, making me grin as well.
"Well, thank you... I can see you are right there. It's just hard when you were told something your whole life or believed something and then you don't really know how to separate what you believe because you were told to from what you believe because you want to." She shrugs.
"Anyways! You look perfect! Now let's go!" I get and he head to the living room.
There I see Luna playing with her phone, she looks at us, relieve crossing her face and I send her a 'talk later look' which thankfully she got.
We resumed our previous positions and after hearing Luna rambling about what Nina had to say about how things were in Buenos Aires, how everyone and the Roller was (which made Ămbar shift uncomfortably in her sit), she finally suggests we watch something on tv.
We found out Ămbar was never a girl to watch tv shows. She and Ms. Sharon weren't ones to spend the night as family. They basically didn't use the tv, only to watch news but mainly on their own rooms. Ămbar did enjoy watching movies because the length gave her just enough time relax before going back to her thousand duties.
Having heard this, Luna freaked out and said we had to change this.
So here we are now, with Luna making us watch The Next Step, which is a show about an Academy of dancers. Luna absolutely loves it. I actually enjoy it because, yes music is my passion, but dancing on skates has grown on me and it's good to get ideas for new tricks.
Right now, they are performing, and my eyes turn to Ămbar who had wrapped a fluffy blanket around her and seems to be about to fly to the world of dreams.
Carolina comes from the kitchen, being followed by Monica, with plates on their hands. Just a few seconds later Miguel and Mr. Alfredo join us.
Apparently, Ămbar's favorite cake is lemon, so Mr. Alfredo asked Monica to prepare one for us, along with a multiple choice of drinks, knowing just how indecisive Ămbar can get there. Her eyes sparkle when she sees the attention given to her. How everyone is worried about how she is feeling, if her temperature went down, if she needs anything, or simply she is enjoying the food.
It's like, Ămbar is used to attention, but not this one, not this genuine concern and care.
She eats or rather, devours her first slice and then her second, which gets her general giggles. We eat together chatting, while Ămbar doesn't really say much. She just seems really focused on the dynamics, on the interactions between us. Almost as if she wanted to figure something out.
Once everyone is finished, full and satisfied, and after checking her fever again, Ămbar asks permission to go lay down.
While she is climbing the stairs, she turns around and looks at me, I smile and she does as well. And I cannot help but admit I haven't forgotten her yet...
I only know how to write the same exact canon angsty scenes over and over but in like 10 different ways. Hereâs one of them. Also, this is my first songfic but idek if I did it in the right context but fuck it yeah.
you fear, that you'll lay alone forever now
He didn't know what he was doing here. He hated parties. He hated being around a bunch of drunk teenagers who dance sloppily and have no sense of direction and go spilling their drinks on people. He hated the type of music they played. The stupid fast-talking rap or the weird EDM beats that make you move awkwardly. And he hated how he was alone. Nico and Pedro swore they were only going to leave him alone for two seconds and come straight back. But they never did. So now he was by himself, leaning his back against the bar, a good distance away from the rest of the crowd watching people. And he wanted nothing more than to go home.Â
But he couldn't. Pedro has the keys to the car and of course, he was nowhere to be found. So now Simon was stuck here.Â
The past few days have been extremely tough on Simon. He had to find out the hard way that his ex- Daniela was a lying bitch. He refused to believe his best friend when she had claimed that she wasn't who she really said she was. He always fell deep into the trap, being so enamored by the girl, he didn't care what anyone else had to say. And that really tore a hole in their friendship. Again.
Yes, this was not the first time for this to happen.
Simon's first two girlfriends he had in Cancun did pretty much the exact same thing. They both lied straight to his face about different things and went and did them behind his back. He really should have been more precise and careful about who he dated after previous mistakes. He really should have listened to the people around him when they said there something going wrong. He should have listened to his own tingling senses when he felt something tinge. He pushed every single obstacle out of his way and followed each girl's lead like a lost little puppy. He fell too in love, too spellbound. And every time, it left him in pieces over again.
Luna had warned him time and time again. He felt the worst for putting his best friend through his bullshit. She was there for him through every single girl despite how much shit she got from them. She tolerated it all. And the fact that she can get mad at Simon and forgive him for the sake of friendship everytime proves how true of a friend she is to him. And he really didn't deserve to have such loyalty by his side.Â
Now brokenhearted again and no friends nearby, he felt so invisible. He thinks back and painful flashbacks pound in his head. The mistakes he made are so repeated, he can't understand why he never learns from them. What if he never does? What if he's thrown in a neverending cycle of misery. He feared that he would always end up broken and alone. Never completely satisfied and happy with life and love. And that's all he's ever wanted. True happiness and the happy ever afters seem like a far distance, something out of reach. What if he gave up and was never able to reach the end of the tunnel. It's such a painful thought. But it keeps appearing in his head over and over again.Â
As he stood there, sipping his drink and staring at the floor deep in thought, he didn't even notice the blonde girl standing right in front of him until she cleared her throat. "Simon," she says. "I wouldn't have expected to see you here," Simon looked up and gave a crooked smile. "Yeah, I didn't expect myself to have come here either."
She nods her head a bit awkwardly looking around the crowded atmosphere. taking small sips from her red cup as well. When she finally looks back, she notices how sad he looks staring at the floor. "Hey, what's wrong?" she asks him. He just shrugs his shoulders, biting his lip. "I just broke up with my ex a few days ago. So..." he drifts off. She looks at him with concern. She doesn't really know how to handle a situation like this. They never really talk. And Gaston and Matteo left her to go have fun on their own. She feels a bit out of place not know what to do exactly.
"Oh... I'm so sorry to hear that," she says while playing with her hair awkwardly. He smiles a bit back at her. "Thanks it was kind of complicated. But I don't really wanna talk about it." She nods at him understandingly and bites her lip. "And why are you here alone? you came by yourself?" she asks again.
"Well, I came here with Nico and Pedro but those dumbasses ditched me of course," he says with a bitter undertone. "And what about you? Why are you here alone?" he asks back. She blows the little strand of hair on her cheek away from her face with a sigh. "Yeah, my dumbasses Gaston and Matteo left me as well. And I'm not exactly on great terms with Delfi And Jazmin right now, so here I am," Simon nods and lightly chuckles. "We both came here only to have terrible companions, didn't we?" he comments. She giggles a bit as well. "We definitely did. But screw those losers," she says, stepping forward to lean against the bar, taking place right next to him. His breath hitches a bit at the closeness their bodies are at.Â
"We can have our fun on our own, right?" she challenges him. She raises her cup to him, waiting for him to do the same. "Right," he responds with a wider smile. And they clank their plastic cups against each other, in the formation of a weird new friendship.
Open up your heart to me, let the music lift you up like you've never been this free
Although Simon rarely ever interacts with Ambar, despite their conversation at the party the other day, he knows her well enough to know that showing weakness is a giant don't for her. As seen as such a girl with high status and a maintained reputation, she has to remain stable. So when accidentally discovers her silently weeping in the corner of the Roller's locker room, he's completely thrown off by this person.
So vulnerable and distraught. It didn't look like her, he thought. Or maybe it was her. A real and genuine, purposely hidden from the universe version of Ambar almost nobody gets to see. He didn't know who it was. But he was willing to risk it to find out.
He gently approaches her, to try not to scare her off. She looks, slowly rolling her head up with a sullen face. She had tears slowly streaming down her face, in a lighter black color from her smudged mascara. Simon looks at her hurt, his heart aching seeing the broken girl right in front of him. He leans against the lockers sideways, keeping a safe distance.
"Hi" he softly whispers, barely audible for her to hear. She sniffles a bit, just repeatedly blinking at him. He motions his head at the open spot on the bench. "Do you mind if I sit here?" he asks quietly. She can only nod her head barely as he carefully sits on the bench almost at a foot distance. Simon takes a closer look at her face, studying the tear stains and the dark circles under her eyes. Ambar's face is flushed realizing how intensely he is trying to read her.Â
Feeling a bit weirded out by the staring, Ambar gave a small smile without looking back and pushed her hair over her ear. It was her very subtle way of trying to initiate the conversation. She was usually good at this, but today she wasn't her usual self at all. She couldn't remember how to function correctly. But she hoped that he would take it as her best.
Simon cleared his throat before speaking. "Why are you crying? What's wrong?" he questioned her. He felt hesitant to say anything pretty much, in fear of saying the wrong thing. But he wanted more than anything to help her, and so he tried.Â
Ambar was still sniffling, trying to breathe properly. She was at a loss here. She isn't one to open up about her feelings and emotions. And the fact that she's being asked to explain why she's crying catches her off guard. But she knew that she needed to seek solace. And Simon was kind enough to be able to put trust in and listen to her intently, she just knew he was that kind of person.
She plays with the hem of her skirt a bit, trying to find the words to say what she feels. "It's just stuff at home, with my godmother," she chokes out. She blinks rapidly to keep more tears from spilling out. Simon looks even more worried at her. "What's going on with your godmother? Are you in danger of something?"Â
She shakes her head, wiping the tears with her forearm. "No, I'm not in trouble or anything," she pauses. "It's just more interior problems". She was still too closed up on letting him know more. She needed more reassurance.Â
Simon takes her hand in his, making circles with his thumb on her skin. "Bonita, you can tell me anything. I promise I'm no judge or gossip. I just want you to feel better." At this, his comment makes her smile a bit, and her cheeks are burnt a bit from the way he called her 'Bonita'. He's used that nickname on her before recently, she just can never get used to the sound of it.
She nods her head a bit more confidently this time, breathing and trying to recollect herself. "There's been a lot of secrets and lies from my godmother," she beings. "She lied to me about my entire life basically, and it piled on and on. And then it all just ticked off when a big explosion came. Everything I ever I thought I knew about myself suddenly disappeared into thin air. And I feel so lost because who I was isn't me. And I've lost all sense of direction. I can't figure out who I am anymore. And know I don't know what to do," she breaks. Heaving sobs into his chest, where he just lets her.
He rubs her arms up and down in a calming matter, just letting her cry out. He takes a few breaths in himself. She sounds of unsteady breathing when he realizes she is trying to pace herself. He motions her to follow him and walks her through taking steady and slow breaths. He wipes her tears away with the pad of his thumb, brushing away the darker spots as well. She looks at him soulfully, letting him know that she is somewhat okay now.
"I know that this is a lot for you right now, and despite many things, I know you don't deserve any of this. And I want to help you and be there for you. But you have to let me do that. You have to let go of those earlier fears express how you feel and be truthful. Because you deserve to have a sense of home and comfort. I want that for you, more than anything right now. Now do you trust me?" he asks, putting his hand out for her once again. She goes back and forth looking at him and his hand. Somehow, she's built more sense of strength and confidence within these moments. She feels sure of herself. So sure. She wants this for herself. She needs it. She has no one, and there is someone willing to be that person for her, after the tremendous disasters she's stricken. She dares to leap this time. and it takes all her guts, but she jumps.
Ambar takes her hand in his, and looks him in the eyes more confidently this time. "I trust you." is all she says before she's pulled into a hug. She had no idea how much she had needed that until right now, but she never wanted it to stop. He peels away slowly to look at her better, cupping her cheek with his hand. "You're not alone," he says. "You have me." Ambar shakes her head, her eyes never leaving his. And she repeats after him. "I have you."
'til you feel the sunrise, let the music warm your body like the heat of a thousand fires
"Oh my god, stop you're so annoying!" Ambar uncontrollably giggled as she and Simon walked around the park together. Simon had been attempting to tickle her all afternoon to see how'd she react. He had gotten her a few times here and there but would immediately run away from his distance.
He laughed at her as she walked alongside him about three meters distance, guarding herself against another attack. "Okay, okay. I'll stop, I swear," he promised, holding his hands up in surrender, trying to contain his giggles. Ambar slowly reapproaches him, being extra cautious just in case she'd have to pull herself back again.Â
But once she sees that he was being normal once again like he promised, she dropped her arms and finally let herself breathe again.Instead, he grabs her hand and tangles their fingers together in the attern that they're still getting used to. She smiles at their hands together trying to contain her blush, but the warm and fuzzy feeling inside of her overpowers and really shows on the outside.
They were in this really weird jumbo of stages in their life currently. They started out as friends who became super close somehow for confiding in each other. And then came nicknames a random inside jokes and knowing all of the little details about the other person soon after.
And then came going on dates often, but never really calling them dates and being affectionate hugging and handholding and kissing. All of these things just kind of came about, but never were really confronted about. There were no titles or major events for anything that happened. They just did and they went about life like that, just as a continuous pattern.
In the months that they were like this, externally it never seemed to be a bother. Ambar had seemed perfectly content. However, with Simon, he wanted more than that. He wanted more than casual and loose and fun. He wanted to mark off these points in their life, he wanted to display the progress that they've made together in some way.
He just wanted to see her happy. After feeling and seeing so much of her pain and struggles, seeing her smile and be herself, the most beautiful and marvelous thing he had ever seen, it was all that he could want in those moments.Â
So maybe now was the right time for a change. To solidify something great and make it even greater. There were lots of risks and nerves and emotions and every possible thing that could go wrong imagined.
And there was the history of his past. Hurt and beaten and broken time after time again. He's had a lot of hurting, but also a lot of healing. The girl that he met when he moved to Buenos Aires was a much different person, one he would never have imagined himself going for. Someone who would never even look in his direction ever. But seeing this person transform right before his eyes really changed his perspective on things. Maybe it was his sign saying it is his time and that its true. Maybe this time there will be no more heartbreak and messy lies and schemes. Maybe she was his final destination, the one he's been anxiously waiting for. And for this, he could not let it slip by or mess up. It was time for him to be happy, and the world around him too.Â
He led her to the edge of the park fountain and they sat. Rose bushes in assorting colors surrounding them, romancing the scenery in the afternoon sun. At their feet, Simon noticed that there was a crack in the concrete, sprouting some grass and a few patches of little yellow dandelions. He pulled one of them out from the ground and gently placed it behind Ambar's ear, and fixing a few other strands of hair when he finished.
She smiled at him, admiring the flower in her reflection in the fountain water. He took her hand with both of his, kissing her knuckles and caressing her closed hand in his. She bit her lip while continuously smiling at him. She loved the feeling of when he touched and held her, she never stopped craving it. She couldn't resist anymore, so she threw her arms around his neck, and wrapping him in the tightest hug possible. Her face was on his shoulders, breathing in the scent of his cologne that she loved oh so dearly. It was one of her favorites of his. She let herself close her eyes and stay in place enjoying it.
Simon was a nervous wreck, and her being so close like this was locking him frozen in place as if time had stopped. He really needed to do this and just come out and say it, no matter what happened.Â
And so he did. When he asked her to become his girlfriend, after a long and emotional speech that had Ambar thinking he was trying to marry her or something and caused her a quick flash of panic for a few seconds, she was overjoyed none the less. She had never been one for sappy gestures and lovey-dovey mushy romance. Her only relationship with Matteo was never like that and she never expected to have it ever. But here and now she was in love with being in love. She loved him, really. And him, her.Â
For the entire afternoon, they found it impossible to not be hugging or kissing or teasing. Their hands on each other the entire time. It was surreal to think of themselves as official and completely together and everything in between. But love prevailed through everything that happened, they had both deserved a happily ever after. And what a lovely feeling it was.
you know, that's a lie that you tell yourself
Five days. Only five. It wasn't even a full week of being together and yet they were already apart. It turns out that some people will never change, and that maybe there is no happily ever after, after all. It was all bullshit. And he fell again. And again and again and again.
Ambar was chasing Simon down the street, running in her heels as far as they could take her. Which surprisingly was far, as she was only several meters behind him. She shouted and shouted at his name, begging him to talk to her and let her explain what he had heard. But he was as angry as Hades, blood boiling at its highest level possible. He was filled with fury and rage and disgust. He had never been any of those things before. But falling into the trap once more, he had had enough.
He thought things were fine. He really did. He may have occasionally dismissed moments when Ambar seemed a bit nervous or out of space. He let it slide, it didn't seem like anything was wrong. But after a bit, it was a growing concern. Something he tried so so hard to push back. And he let it slip through his reach.
And then came just half an hour before when the worst thing possible happened, so gutwrenching and cruel to his ears he thought he would throw up.
As he was re-organizing the rental shoes at the base of the counter, he heard the sound of heels scurrying into the locker room Immediately he knew it was Ambar, the only person who even wore heels casually around Roller besides skates. She was panting loudly trying to regain breath. He stayed hidden low, not knowing if it was a good or safe situation to be in.
Juliana came in a mere few seconds later, scolding at Ambar with such vulgar and low tolerance. He learned that she lied the entire time, burning down the rink and breaking the crystal skate. And the entire time she was whimpering like a hurt puppy trying to be the victim.Â
When she admitted to the fault, Simon popped out from the counter, not saying a word but wore an outraged expression, and burst out of the room like an explosion. Her face when she saw him looked as if she'd seen a ghost. Words were caught in her throat and her brain all over the place. The only thing she could think of doing was running out to find him, not caring that Juliana was still talking to her.
Ambar finally caught up to him and pulled at his wrist, which only made him snap it away. Tears were flowing nonstop from the both of them this time. In the middle of the same park where they got together. Now it meant nothing."Leave me alone, Ambar," he commanded her as he tried walking away again. But she only tried to pull him back again. Â "No, Simon! Wait, please. Just listen time," "I heard what I heard and there's nothing that you could say to justify it. You lied to me. You've known what I've been through and did exactly that. And I'm done with it,"
His fists were balled up tightly and jaws clenched, internally fighting so hard to keep his anger as low as possible while in public. But he couldn't this time. He's had it up to the sky with the limits, and no they're overboard.Â
"I swear I completely regret ever doing that and I will for the rest of my life. I just-" he cut her off, pointing his finger at her. "Just shut up alright. I don't want to hear it anymore. All that bullshit you did and the fact that you used me for one of your fucking stupid plans. Your feelings were probably never real for me. They were all fake. And I don't want to deal with you ever again so fuck off! Don't talk to me ever again!"Â
And with that, he stormed off into the opposite direction. Ambar just stood in place, looking emotionless to the ground. She didn't bother chasing him again or saying that her feelings were real if he wasn't going to believe her. She knew that what she had done was wrong. And that there was no one way of fixing anything so easily. She was screwed, she screwed up. And she would have to live with that until she could fix herself before fixing others first.Â
The fourth time ever heartbroken, and in the same exact way for Simon. It was definitely not different this time. She was not changed. No. He lied to himself thinking all was okay it would be a fresh start. But all was wrong. He was convinced he was totally spellbound for falling for fake and lying girls, and maybe for the rest of his life too. His hope for finding peace, love, and happiness was gone now, trapped in a long and deep sleep may be to never wake ever again.Â
For now, all that Simon could do was bury himself deep away from the world and from girls and from any type of social interactions. The last thing he wanted to do was think about Ambar or his repetitive mistakes or her despicable actions as well. All he wanted was to be locked up in his room with his guitar. And pour his soul into what he did best.Â
Write and write and write. Writing until the pain went away. And who knows when that'll be.Â
look at me forcing myself to stay on schedule lmao. not even close to proofread but yâall know that already.Â
part 1 | part 2 | part 3Â Â
au: famous!simĂłn meets college!ĂĄmbar
âIt wasnât a date.â
âIt was.â
âIt wasnât.â
âIt so was!â
âFor the last time, it wasnât a date!â
âHoney, he invited you for coffee, paid for your food, you both asked personal questions, he gave you a ride home⌠he freaking met your mom! It screams date. With capital d.â
Ămbar scoffed. âFreaking? What, you stopped cursing now?â
âIâm trying to quit; I almost said âfuckâ when my I.L. teacher asked me a question yesterday, he gave me the death glare and I thought for sure the vein in his forehead would pop and cover me in blood.â Emilia paused, âdammit, youâre a bad influence, I was doing so good.â
She raised her brow, âIâm not in charge of what you say, you idiot.â
âBut you encourage me to curse, like the wicked witch you are.â She flipped her off, then. Emilia just puckered her lips up, sending her a kiss. âAnyway, your distraction ends now, stop swimming in your river and accept it; you and pinkboi went on a date.â
âMy river?â
âYâknow, the Nile? Denial.â
âHilarious.â She deadpanned.
âI would slay as a comedian.â
Ămbar decided sheâd ignore her best friend for the rest of their lunch. Itâd been almost three weeks and Emilia still hadnât dropped the subject. So, what if it sounded like she had a date? Ămbar had very clear that it hadnât been one, and she was sure SimĂłn knew it too. Besides, she didnât like him. Sure, they had fun, and sure, he wasnât nearly as bad as sheâd expected; but never, not once, did it cross her mind to see it as anything but an interview.
Which, by the way, had broken records on the Fab & Chic. JazmĂn and Delfi hadnât been happy at first that sheâd gone solo and met SimĂłn on her own, or that itâd been her who he gave the exclusive (that she didnât know it was an exclusive in the first place) about the band nearly splitting up years ago; but the exposure (and money) other media and fans had given the blog in the last two weeks was more than enough to shut their mouths and be appreciative of it. Thanks to it, JazmĂn and Delfi had been offered internships on two of the best magazines in the city, and a potential place for a future job to start their careers.
Ămbar, however, got enough money to pay next semesterâs scholarship without her momâs help. Maybe two more if she worked a summer job, and her dad sent her allowance on time; which he most likely would, since he didnât have to pay two months of his little brotherâs school.
She had thought of sending SimĂłn an e-mail to thank him, or maybe even a card; but decided against it since the dude was, well, famous, and probably received thousands of those daily. The chances of him reading it were slim to none, and most likely than not, itâd go to junk-mail.
Plus, SimĂłn really didnât strike him as someone who read his e-mails.
â- Mrs. Ălvarez.â Emilia caught her attention. âHa! You responded to that! You must be thinking of marrying that dude and picking your childrenâs names and everything!â
She glared at her. âIt was just a coincidence I tuned into your delirious words when you said it.â
âNah-uh. Tell me, are you marrying in white? Beige? Are you changing your name to his? Will you have a girl or a boy first? Itâs totally a girl, isnât it?â
âWe donât change names here!â Her best friend ignored her, continuing her ranting.
âI can totally see it. A girl, with fake blonde hair, his curls, your face and his dimples; hopefully with his butt because, no offense, but yours is none-existing.â
âAre you sexualizing my hypothetic child?â Again, she was ignored.
âYou should name her after me because Iâm awesome. Think about it: Emilia Ălvarez Smith. Oh, or maybe like that Mean Girls girl. Huh, Regina Ălvarez Smith doesnât sound that nice, forget I said that. What about a stuck up, bitchy girl? I had this classmate in MĂŠxico and she sucked. Her name was M-â
âStop naming my non-existing daughter!â
âIâm sure pinkboi would love my names, no worries.â
âThen you have kids with him!â
âI have Benny already, and no offense, but heâs hotter than your boy.â Â
âYouâre an idiot and I hate you a lot right now.â
Emilia smirked. âNow, now, donât bring out the claws just because you wish your boy was hot like mine.â
Before she could retort with a sarcastic answer like she wanted, her phone vibrated on the table. Seeing JazmĂnâs name on the screen threw her off; because she never called unless she needed Ămbar to do something for her and the blog.
âHello?â
âCan I give your number to SimĂłn?â As usual, the redhead never disappointed with her greetings.
âWhat?â Emilia arched her brow, silently asking who it was. When she mouthed JazmĂn, her friend pretended to gag; she just rolled her eyes at her antics.
JazmĂnâs sigh of annoyance was heard through the phone. âHe e-mailed the Fab and Chic asking for your number. Iâm asking you if I can give it to him since youâd probably kick my ass if I just gave it to him without warning.â
She would. âHow are you sure itâs him? Does the guy even use his e-mail?â At this point, the other blonde was gesturing wildly to turn on the speaker. Ămbar just flipped her off.
âI e-mailed his agent and he confirmed it was his personal account.â
What did that guy want, now?
âFine. But if Iâm kidnapped or something itâs on you.â
JazmĂn just hung op on her. She had been bitter two weeks ago, and she probably still was. SimĂłn was her celebrity crush, and she was the biggest Rollerband fan she knew of; buttchin trying to contact her specifically mustâve been salt on her wounded pride. Not like she actually cared, but the boy wasnât some thing, he was someone and JazmĂn couldnât call dibs on him like it was her property.
But, again, she didnât like him. She just cared for his right to not be objectified.
âWell, goodbye to you too.â She muttered before locking her phone and putting it away on the table.
âWhat did gingerbread want now?â Emilia asked eagerly.
âButtchin e-mailed the Fab & Chic and asked for my number. She was just asking if she could give it to him.â
The gasp that came out from her friendâs mouth should be illegal. The girl actually shrieked, âI told you! I fucking told you so! He liiiiiikes you!â
By now, half the lunch counter was glaring at them. âWould you shut up?â She hissed, âhe doesnât like me. Heâs probably asking because the idiot forgot to ask for his beanie back.â
âYeah, right. You seriously buy that bullshit? The dude is probably naming your kids right now.â
âWhatâs with you and thinking people are naming their kids?â
âBenny and I have. Weâre naming one Bernardo and the other Esther.â
âDo you want your kids to be bullied?â
âMy kids will be bad-asses, if anything theyâll bully.â
Sometimes Ămbar wondered why she was even friends with her.
She was relieved when she got home. Her classes had gone smoothly, and the workload had been reasonable; but Emiliaâs teasing had hit a nerve on her that made her unable to turn off the topic in her mind.
She just wanted a shower, ice cream and a nap. Ămbar knew herself enough to accept that trying to do any work in that moment would be pointless and a sure headache.
Her bed was calling her.
And, according to her vibrating bag, so was someone on her phone. It was a blocked number, so she just let it go to voicemail and went to take a shower; if it was anything important theyâd leave a message or something.
When she got out, she had ten unread texts.
Hey Ămbar, itâs simĂłn
As in, SimĂłn Ălvarez
From the Rollerban
*Rollerband
I asked JazmĂn for your # and she gave it to me, she told me she told you?
If youâre not ambar ignore these messages
Iâm not actually simĂłn from the rb
If you are tho please text me back
Or call me
Or something?
âHeâs such a weirdo.â She muttered to herself, before texting a simple âitâs me.â It only took seconds before he responded.
Can I call you?
No
He called her anyway.
âI told you no, buttchin.â
SimĂłn didnât seem to mind her greeting, as he sounded more amused that anything. âThen why did you pick up?â She didnât answer, which only made him chuckle. âSorry, but I really needed to confirm this was your number. Itâs not like I donât trust JazmĂn butâŚâ
âShe hates me?â
â⌠It sounded like that, yes.â
She sighed. âShe doesnât. I think sheâs just jealous you didnât ask for her number.â
âWell, sheâs not the one who stole my beanie. I have no reason to call her.â
âI didnât steal it. You forgot to ask for it and I forgot to return it.â
âSounds like stealing to me.â Â
âDo you want me to mail it to you or something?â
âOr something.â
âWell that surely tells me what you want to.â
He chuckled again. âOne of my friends goes to your uni, and they offered to pick it up for me; if that works for you I can tell them to meet you in your faculty.â
âWouldnât it be easier for you to come to my house?â
âAs much as I liked your momâs food and having dinner with you, I canât. The boys and I are actually out of the country right now, thatâs why I couldnât contact you earlier.â
She was surprised when she felt a wave of disappointment course through her body. Did she want to see him again? Well, yes. But she knew she didnât need to, and she was obviously not going to ask him to wait until he was back in Buenos Aires. Her pride was bigger than that.
âThen sure. Just tell me when and Iâll bring it over.â
âAwesome! Do you have free time tomorrow?â
She nodded, even if he couldnât see her. âI have a couple minutes before my noon class. If they can meet me at 11:50 in the square, Iâll be waiting by the fountain.â
â11:50, square, fountain; got it. Iâll text them and confirm it later, alright?â She shrugged it off with an âokayâ. âSo, how are you? How were your classes?â Ămbar smiled.
He stalled their goodbyeâs for another hour, promising to call her tomorrow after uni to see if everything had gone alright.
She didnât do any work that afternoon, but she couldnât bring herself to care that much.
The next morning, she was next to Emilia with the beanie on her hand; waiting for whoever SimĂłn had sent, and just couldnât believe what she was seeing.
Out of everyone is this world, she really wasnât expecting to her there.
âDa-amn.â Emilia whispered as Luna walked their way, the brunetteâs grin as bright as the sun. Ămbar forced herself to smile back.
Only SimĂłn would send her exâs actual girlfriend to pick up his stupid hat.
Helllllllooooooooooo. This is my very first one shot/ fanfic I've ever written completely. (I've been writing for a while for other fandoms, but I've never actually finished or published any of them). I really hope you like it as I worked really hard on it. Please let me know what you think. Part two will be coming very soon. Suggestions are welcome as well. Enjoy!! 1.3k words
I stood under the thresh hold carrying the very last box in containing the belongings for my nightstand. I looked around the perimeter of the new little apartment me and my boyfriend of 3 years get to call our own. All of the big pieces of furniture and appliances are in place. Boxes are cluttering the kitchen island and dinning table and the couch is covered with the towels and blankets and pillows neatly folded and waiting to be put away.
I place the box on top of another one on the table and walk towards the balcony. It's not too large, but has just enough room for a nice outdoor table set. Nothing compares to the view however. It's amazing how we managed to get such a good deal on this place with this priceless view. You can see the beautiful city of Buenos Aires and stretches far out on the left side, and on the right peaks out a small stretch of the ocean. It's completely breathtaking, I may never get used to it.Â
I hear my boyfriend call out my name from inside. He sees me on the balcony and drops his keys on the table and joins me. He leans over the railing with me and slings one of his arms over mine then gives me a small side hug and proceeds to kiss the top of my head. He looks up at me to say, "I think that's all. It's official." I give him a wide grin. "I can't believe it. I'm so excited. Waking up next to you every morning is going to be the best." I turn facing towards him, "I love you." I proceed to grab his face with both of my hands and kiss him. Gentle and slow. I feel him smile against me and pull me closer by the hips. He pulls away after a few seconds and stares at me in admiration. He gently moves a piece of hair out of my eyes. "Why don't we go out to dinner tonight to celebrate? Somewhere nice." Simón suggests. The suggestion makes me giddy inside. I sling my arms around his neck and peck him quickly. "Sounds great." We let go of each other and go back inside.
We unpacked the entire afternoon. Everything isn't completely in place yet, but almost. All of our clothes were in the closets and drawers, the pots, pans, plates, cups and such were all neatly tucked away, and our bed is set up. Because we needed someway to sleep obviously. The only things we need left are to add our decor. Photographs, vases, and such.Â
After a few hours I decided to start getting ready by early evening. SimĂłn didn't tell me where exactly we were going, but that it was nice. I looked in my closet to determine how dressy I should go. I end up going with a light blue deep v neck cocktail dress. Complete with ruffles and resembling the style of a modern Cinderella. I complete it with matching princess like accessories. Without the crown of course. I do my hair and makeup pretty quickly which is quite surprising to me. I usually take forever. I guess I just don't want to take too long because this I really important. I'm practically ready, so I just sit on our bed waiting for SimĂłn.Â
A few minutes later he comes out of the bathroom wearing black slacks, a white button up shirt the first few buttons opened and wet hair. I lose my breath for a second there. God he looks hot as hell. He's rolling up the cuffs on his shirt and adjusting his watchband and peers over at me. He melts into pure adoration. I stand up and walk over to him, adjusting his hair a bit so it doesn't look as wet and messy. I breathe out, "you look really good tonight. Like freaking hot." He chuckles at my comment a bit and kisses my nose. "And you look like a fairy tale princess little miss Ămbar. You're so beautiful." He presses his soft lips against my cheek and then behind my ear. I feel a blush creeping up my cheeks like a wild fire and shiver at the touch of his lips against my skin. We lean our foreheads against each other. "Shall we go?" My boyfriend says while sticking out his hand for my to grab. I eagerly take it. "We shall." I smile back at him, and we head out of our apartment.
SimĂłn takes me to my favorite restaurant. A very exclusive French cuisine. It seems moderately busy, which is normal as it is a Saturday night. However, SimĂłn manages to get us seated extremely fast. The waitress brings us to our table within five minutes of arriving. My boyfriend pulls out my chair for me like the gentleman he is and kisses my hand. How'd I get so lucky with him?Â
The waitress hands us our menus. When she asks for our drinks, SimĂłn immediately orders us both Kirs, a mixture of champagne, white wine, and crime. She instantly comes back with our beautifully decorated glasses of Kir. We then order the first thing we see on the menu, as its all delicious anyways. Once the waitress leaves, SimĂłn grabs my hand from across the table rubbing his thumb in little circles on my hand. "I love you, Ămbar. More than you'll ever know. Deciding to live with you is the best decision I've ever made and I can't wait for the rest of our days together." He raises his glass slightly in the air, motioning for me to do the same. I'm fighting back the tear so I don't ruin my makeup. I lift my glass in return. "Moving in with you is the biggest step I've ever taken in life. I was so scared at first of the idea. But with you, you make everything okay. I don't have that fear anymore. I get to have you by my side, and there's no better gift to receive every day than that. I love you." We clink our glasses together and take a small sip. I've never been so in love with someone until SimĂłn. I never want this to end.
We arrive to our brand new home close to midnight. Just a bit tipsy from the Kirs, but nothing major at all. Simón had to carry me from the car to our apartment because my feet were swollen from my heels, even though we didn't do much walking or dancing. They just really hurt. He lets me down when we get to our bedroom so we can get ready for bed. Although I'm very tempted to just lay down on the bed and call it a day, my boyfriend makes me actually brush my teeth and change into PJs.
I change into my stripes tank and short short set he gave me for Christmas. We brush our teeth together at the sink and playful push each other out of the way so we could have mirror space. I wash off my make up and he takes his contacts off and washes his face. We finally slip into bed and turn off the lights. However, we still face each other, hugging the blankets around us. He reaches for my cheek inches away and strokes it with his thumb. I blink slowly fighting every will to not fall asleep. He whispers to me, "Good night my love. I love you." He kisses my cheek and pulls me closer. My head against his heart, hearing the sound of its beats. "Goodnight Simón. Sleep tight." We fall asleep in each others arms. I've never slept this well in my entire life.
