I saw this in my inbox when you sent it, I just wanted to wait until I could actually be thorough.
Anyway- I tried to explain the best I could because I don't exactly have a certain way that I draw those? Or at least I don't think about it. I'm not a professional ofc, so hopefully this is actually useful.
Tips under cut
Expressions:
When it comes to this, it's probably best to understand what the emotion is you are trying to convey and how the character would portray it. Do you want it to be subtle? Do you want it to be obvious, over exaggerated?
Anatomy:
Personally, I still struggle with this. Sonic characters are so oddly built and doofy, it makes sense why few find it difficult. For me, it's mainly around the neck and collar bone area because the freaking characters don't have them.
I've been drawing for a really long time, my whole life actually, and it's just been a series of trial and error, and constant change. Videos will be helpful, references, research, but in the end, it all comes to you. You need to figure out what works for you, which I'm sure you've heard plenty (maybe,) but it's just fact.
So yeah! Don't take any of this to heart obviously, just keep it in mind. lmk if you imploded at the sight of this, I'm curious.
