How would Niara's relationship with Senes change... if Senes had always been a woman?
Man or woman, it doesn't matter much to Niara. Women are lovely and curvy and attractive, men are more angular, sharp and muscular. Both are beautiful as Elves, of course.
However, many other things would be different for Senes if he had been a woman... so who knows. One thing that really attracted her to him was his loyalty he shows to her brother. Senes is someone that Xan trusts completely and without hesitation, and Senes trusts Xanadar as well. In a very real way, Senes became a part of her "family" in a non-platonic way, since she has/had the hots for him. He was someone close, someone that could be trusted without question.
If Senes was a woman, her brother probably would have wanted to date Senes or share a more intimate relationship, at least. That probably would have put a damper on the whole romantic interest for Niara, since she would never try to compete with her brother over romance. Whatever her brother wants, she will not stand in the way of it.
